I want to share my camera feed with someone using the URL and password.
I have this setup on an individual camera and it works great from PC's.
When I try to use the URL on a mobile device, it brings up the website, I enter the password, but the video feed never starts.
Any suggestions?

Hey folks,
Do you have the 2021 cams? If so, no there is no web-app version for Google home yet. But if you are referring a way to share you video feed, you can share clips and you can learn how to share your live feed here.
Best regards,
Brad

Neither my older ones or newer ones work (neither DropCam or Nest/Google cams):
From the instructions: "Older cameras controlled with the Nest app have a couple more ways to share video: with a password-protected link or with a public link."
This works in a browser, yes. But my iOS devices all say "Update your browser" (all iOS devices I share the link with have the same issue)

Is that link to the normal URL?

Yes 😞

It’s not the link you would share with someone. I wouldn’t want to give out my personal creds.

I have the latest cams. I am trying to share the video feed. As I stated in April: "When I try to use the URL on a mobile device, it brings up the website, I enter the password, but the video feed never starts."

Currently, we do not have a web app for the Google Home app. The link I shared was for Nest cams. The new 2021 cams are not compatible with the nest app or nest web app.

Brad

All of my cameras are the older version. Again, this is testing to load the shared web link, it doesn’t work on iOS devices, as flash is deprecated. I was simply trying to share an older dropcam feed with friends/family of a bird nest. They don’t need full credentials. The shared link and a dedicated password would be perfect. Nobody can get the link to work, it states “Update your browser” on all mobile devices.

Here are the specs on 1 of the cameras:
Model | Nest Cam Outdoor |
Serial no. | 64166688fa1e |
Software | 223-610050 |
So if I am hearing you correctly, with the latest cameras (2021), it is not possible to share a link to view the cameras. Correct?
The cameras work with the Nest App on my phone and the home.nest.com website on my PC.
I still don't understand why these "new" cameras don't function as the website you provided suggested (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9227530?hl=en&authuser=1&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&oc...).
Please confirm and advise.

The new 2021 cams are not available on Nest app, they are exclusive to the Google Home App. There is no currently an option to view the new 2021 cams on a computer like you can with the nest web app, as there is no google home web app quite yet. The link you shared will show you how to share a link, but it doesn't work for a web app as there is none for the 2021 Nest Doorbell (battery) or Nest Cam (battery).

Brad

Thanks. You mentioned the doorbell and nest cam (battery). Those are not what we have. We have indoor and outdoor wired. Would that mean that it should work then?

The previous cams should be able to work with Nest or Google Home apps. It just depends on if you migrated from Nest to Google Home or not. Here is a link to Support who can assist you further.

Brad

Sorry. I was out of town.
I'm not clear on what should work then.
My problem is as originally stated:
- I want to share my camera feed with someone using the URL and password.
- I have this setup on an individual camera and it works great from PC's.
- When I try to use the URL on a mobile device, it brings up the website, I enter the password, but the video feed never starts.
I have 2 types of wired camera's, indoor and outdoor, specifically;
Technical info
Model | Nest Cam |
Serial no. | 44bb3b003ccf |
Software | 223-610050 |
Technical info
Model | Nest Cam Outdoor |
Serial no. | 18b4306a4e0d |
Software | 223-610050 |
I'm using https://home.nest.com/ to access the camera setup on my PC.
I subscribe to Nest Aware.
I again just tried "Camera Sharing", giving me a URL https://video.nest.com/live/ and setting a password. On an Android it just spins after entering the password.
So... should this not work? Any ideas why it doesn't??

I'm in the same boat. Seems like everyone that asks this question, it takes too long for anyone to respond, so they close the post with no fix. My iOS devices all say "Update your browser". I think this is because flash is deprecated for both Android and Apple devices.
