Camera not capturing people in recorded zones

I've witnessed this happen several times now, but I can clearly see someone walk by my front window, which means they had to walk in front of our doorbell camera and in a zone that is most definitely monitored. I watched as another Google camera picked up these people but not the doorbell camera. Just now, it picked up the sound but not the fact there were 5 different people for about 30 seconds. It's dusk, but not that dark. Then, about 2 minutes later, a woman walked by with a whole stroller... Nothing caught at all. We've had teens coming through breaking into cars and a different doorbell camera caught them before but in terrible quality, hence we went to the Google cameras. But what's the point is it's missing so many people? Anyone know why or how to fix it? Again, already verified in a monitored zone.

Hi  autumnsdreamer,  I'm an end user like you.  Which camera do you have that is having this problem?  Is it the newer nest doorbell (battery) camera?  If so you will see a number of people reporting similar issues here on this user forum.  Because it works on a battery it goes into sleep mode to conserve power.  And sometime it just doesn't wake up to record for what ever reason.   This can happen if you have power going to the device from the preexisting wired door bells.  For this reason I stayed with the old Gen 1 Nest  HELLO doorbell as it is ON all the time and with the nest aware PLUS it records 24/7.  If you look on the RUMOR websites Nest is about to release a new doorbell camera that will will bring back this function and it will be on all the time.  If they do I will be getting one to replace my aging HELLO doorbell. cam.

If you want to take this further you can always open a support ticket and actually speak to a Nest technician on the phone.   Here is a link that lets you set up a phone call.
