Camera viewings

I live in a neighborhood where a lot of ex military cops etc live.   Some cars do t show up on my camera.   I’m trying to catch a prowler that would knock on my bedroom Window at night on video yet some cars aren’t showing up on camera?

I would recommend keeping your camera hard wired and paying for the additional Nest Aware service. That for sure will capture everything. As for alerts, you could try modifying the "zones"

open google home app, go to your specific camera, click on the gear icon on the top right, and then Events. Tap on "seen events" and "add a zone". It takes some playing around to figure out where the lines should be. So I'd advise setting it up, and trying to trip the alerts yourself.

If you still can't, you can try increasing the sensitivity by clicking on "battery" under the settings and setting it to "more recording". If that still doesn't do it. Your last ditch effort would be to enable "motion" under the settings of the camera. However this will indescriminately alert you for EVERYTHING.

I think your best course of action is to pay for the nest aware, hardwire your camera (I just bought a 15ft USB male/female extension to connect the Camera wire to it's charger and notched a tiny crevice in my window where the cable comes through. Took me 5 minutes and I get 24/7 coverage so even if the alerts fail me, I can still scan the history manually.

Ok sounds good thx for the advice and the options.   I’ll try extending the video usage or whatever I found it in settings.  Thx

So far it’s not working now it’s won’t record someone running down the street odd things going on in my neighborhood.  Lol to say the least.  I heard a click or swish when they pass and then it’s also deleted fom my camera history.   Strange?   I dunno?

Do you have constant power going to your camera?

I would setup the zones on it and try to trigger them yourself. And keep making changes to the zone/sensitivity until you get desired results.

The other issue too is you may potentially have the camera too high up, or observing something too far away for accurate detection. How high/far are you monitoring?

For some reason my Wi-Fi keeps going off and google keeps saying disconnected?   I dunno why?   It’s all google battery?   Btw, just a few moments ago this prowler was undetectable to my camera and has done it again!   Ugh!   So frustrated.   Also I noticed something odd tonight on my one camera it had a notification that the street had a car going on it I looked and nothing.   Then I saw on this same camera a bright light flashing continuously could someone have reprogrammed my cameras?   So this person is undetected?  I dunno?   So frustrated?  Btw,  thx for all your help in this?  Dunno what else to do?   Seems some cars are still going undetected also.   I have been researching this a lot and found that some people can have a camera jammer?   I dunno maybe this person has it!   And the others that are going undetected?

It's not a "camera jammer", but moreso a Wifi Signal jammer, but that's not super likely as that would be an advanced criminal element. And if that was active, than all of your Wifi devices would lose connection. Most prowler-esqe criminals are not walking around with a laptop and a specific ############ dollar wifi antenna to specifically jam signals.

Is your camera wired to power? How far away is the observable area from the camera? Have you tried enabling motion detection for a night and seeing if it catches any and everything?

Oh?   These are the battery Wi-Fi cameras for nest.    They are not ground wired yet.   Now I’m thinking about it?   Oh and yes my Wi-Fi goes disconnected too!

Yeah I understand that they're battery powered, you will not get 24/7 video without the camera getting continuous power.
What I did was run the charging cable that came with the camera to the camera itself, and then purchased a 10ft usb male-female extension to then connect it to it's wall charger, and just ran it through my window and notching a little groove to let the wire pass through without damage from the window closing.
