In January, we installed 4 cameras (641666005D04E16B model). They have not ever recorded anything between sundown and sunup. If it’s dark, they don’t work. I’ve had them on Auto Night Vision for the most part. I recently changed one to Always On, but it’s changed nothing. They work perfectly fine while the sun is out. So it’s not a Wi-Fi issue (Wi-Fi doesn’t change when the sun goes down). If I open the app at night, I can see live video, but it will not capture any activity. And yes, there is activity. At this point, I’m so frustrated with them. Can someone please help?!!?

Our one Google Nest Camera (Battery) doesn't flag many events at all at night, but there isn't much activity at night there. And I think, on night vision, the camera doesn't detect events as well. The camera does record all night long (so we can find events that weren't flagged if we scan the history), because it is plugged in with the optional 10-meter power cable and is always "Live". (Scanning history is terrible in the Google Home app, compared to the Google Nest app for our older cameras.) When running on battery power these new cameras are usually "Idle" and the impression I have from other posts is that they therefore often do not catch events at their start.

Yes I need help with this issue. Any suggestions on what might be the problem? Or are these cameras really just useless as they have been for the last 4 months?

I am not sure why your devices are not recording at night. Which cams do you have? And do you have an active Nest Aware subscription? How far away are your cams from your wifi? And have you gone through all of your settings to make sure everything is turned on that should be? It honestly sounds like you may have faulty devices. I would contact Support for further assistance.

Yes we have Nest Aware. The distance from the router is irrelevant because the camera record just fine during the day. They don’t move so why would anything be different? Yes I’ve gonna thru all of the settings. And I’ve tried support… they were as useless as the cameras. So basically what you’re saying is these things are junk. Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I’ll be sure to leave a great review everywhere I can find.

Sorry to hear you ran into this issue. If they are under warranty, then I would suggest reaching out to Support for a replacement device.
