Can't add Ring Doorbell (Battery) to Home using GSuite account

I already had a Nest account for my Ring thermostat. It was set up using my main email account which is a GSuite account. When I tried to add a new Ring Doorbell to that account, I received an error message saying I couldn't use a GSuite account. I then migrated my Nest account to a simple (i.e., not GSuite) alternative GMail account.

Having done that, I proceed with the attempt to add the Ring Doorbell...

On the Home "home" page, I tap the "+" sign to add the doorbell. I select "Setup Device" which lets me select "New device." I select "Home" on the "Choose a Home" page. It looks for devices and finds Nest Doorbell (Battery). I scanned the QR code and it finds the device. I agree to the arbitration agreement, usage & privacy guidelines. I opt in for sharing device stats. I answer "Yes" to "Do you have a Nest Account?"  It asks me to sign in to continue the migration, but that page does not accept either the GSuite email or the non-GSuite email with their associated passwords. The "Forgot Password" link never sends an email for a password reset to either account.

So I'm basically stuck. I cannot proceed with the set up.

Hi Psconnolly,  Yes, I agree they do seem to be putting up lots of road blocks.

But what I'm saying to do is install the app on your wife phone and then (temporarily) just log in to it with your login ID and password just long enough to ADD the camera.  The log out and delete the app off of her phone if you want to.

Hi PSconnolly,  I'm an end user like you.  Searching this forum I see a lot of people have asked this question.  this is what I found: "No you can't use a gsuite account to set up a nest camera or nest device, it has to be from a personal Gmail account, which is free.  You can however link a g suite account to the nest family.  "

Hope this helps.

I have a personal Gmail account. I transferred my Nest signon to that personal Gmail account. Now, if only the Nest/Home app would allow me to log into the personal Gmail account in order to complete the doorbell device setup...

If you have another phone from a family member around I think you can get it to work based on what other people are saying.  Log-out on your phone, install the app on the other phone and log in with your same credentials,  Add the camera (hopefully it works).  Then log out and remove the app from that phone if you want to.  Go back to your phone and the camera should be there.

I hope this helps.

Thanks EmptyNester. However, this whole Google Home/Ring semi-integration clusterpluck seems to put up a new roadblock at each new corner.

In order to try what you're suggesting, I assume I have to add my wife's email to our Google Home household first...? However, attempting to invite her to join our Google Home household, I repeatedly get an error: "Can't send invite right now. Try again." I've tried this at various times of the day and trying both her GSuite and her non-GSuite Gmail accounts for the invitation.

Link to error page in Google Home

I'm very close to abandoning this failed experiment and returning the doorbell. Google Home and Ring integration is a mess!  😝

Thanks! I was finally able to wrestle away her phone and do as you instructed... and it worked! 😊

That is fantastic news.  I'm so glad.  Bummer it has to be like this.  I really wish Google would focus on this bug as I see MANY people having the same issue.

@Brad & @aatienza: I've marked @EmptyNester 's suggestion as a solution for my problem. (I posted the problem as psconnolly, but am replying as corbathegeek.)

My only problem now is Google's lack of integration of their products with other company's products. I find that I'm using Amazon Alexa much more often than Google Home because Alexa supports all my devices, not just their own.

But that should be a completely different thread than this one...
