Can't add camera after changing wifi password

corwin01

I changed my WiFi password and needed to reconnect my Nest Cam (battery).

I followed the procedure of removing them from the app and then doing a factory reset, however once reset I can't add them back. When I scan the QR code, it just dumps me back at the main screen of the Google home app. If I choose setup without scanning qr code and enter the setup code, it does the same thing.

The Cam light is pulsing blue.

How do I get this reconnected?

Try using the Nest app instead of the Google Home app.

If that doesn't work, plug it into a Windows PC via Usb. It should show up as a flash disk drive, browse the drive and run the nest windows setup exe file and it should set it up.  This  also works on older macs (32-bit macs) but won't work with newer 64-bit or Apple Silicon M1 Macs.

Thanks for the reply.  Sorry I wasn't clear, this is one of the newer Nest Cam (battery) which is only available in the Google Home App.  My older Nest camera that do use the Nest app were a breeze to add back, so I really wish this was an option still.

Hey corwin01,

Appreciate the help, saminmontreal. What phone are you using to set up your Nest camera? Have you tried force closing the Google Home app, then restart your phone to see if that helps? Also, try reinstalling the Google Home app to make sure it's up-to-date. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Archie

I was doing this from an S21. It did end up working eventually, I restarted my phone and left the cameras unplugged for a day, and then setup worked as normal.
