Cannot factory reset doorbell (wired)

There's no option for wired doorbell it seems...

However, I'm having difficulty resetting mine. I attempted the two button reset after attempting a normal reset by disconnecting wires for 10 seconds. The two button reset (using a paper clip and pressing the button) doesn't seem to do anything but shut the doorbell off temporarily.

My issue is that the doorbell is no longer functioning then the button is pressed. The camera shuts off and often there is no tone, inside or out. Any ideas? Or should I try and grab a last minute deal for the holidays?

I’m having the same issue. Push the button and it goes dead for a minute or two without activating the indoor chime. I restarted multiple times. It won’t even go into the factory reset mode. My neighbor has the exact same problem. I tired contacting Nest customer service and got nothing. Was in line for a chat for over two hours then just cut off. Pretty lame customer service. Any help with this?!?

Your doorbell probably have same degraded internal battery issue.  Do a search in this forum, there's a huge thread about it.

Try turning off the "Indoor Chime On/Off" in the nest app for the doorbell, then try factory reset. Make sure you keep your indoor chime setting to off or else the doorbell will go dead every time someone rings it.

If you still cannot factory reset the doorbell, remove it from the wall, then bring it inside and plug in a micro usb cable at the back to charge it a bit.  Then do the factory reset that way.  Again, make sure indoor chime is off after factory reset to prevent doorbell shutting of after ring button is pressed.

Hope it helps, good luck.

I appreciate the recommendation! No luck yet but at least seeing some different lights when pressing (yellow) which seems to be power related. I'll try some more CPR before I pronounce it dead.

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be, and I wanted to make sure that your concern was acknowledged. Do you still need help with this issue? I know that there's been a delay in response since you posted.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Brad,

No luck. I was finally able to reset the doorbell but it's essentially another outdoor cam at this point. If the chime is turned on the doorbell will short and shut down. I've tested the transformer and all currents are normal, so it isn't an issue with power.

Can you link to the thread about dead battery on a wired doorbell?  I can't find any thing about it, only dead battery threads for the battery doorbell.

Super helpful! Are you saying that if the indoor chime is setup it won’t work at all?

Hello,

My Nest Doorbell (Wired) was working fine since I got it in Dec 2021. Recently it kept dropping the Wi-Fi connection and I would have to reconnect which lasted about 24 hrs before it lost it again. After a few times I reset it and it worked for a while longer before dropping again. Looking at the device it has green LED but no blue ring light. I decided to factory reset but it won't do that. The green LED goes out after a few seconds but the ring light stays off, no orange or flashing blue light and no sound. I removed it from the transformer power and plugged it in via microUSB to a socket plug. Still it won't reset so I don't think it is a power issue. I am out of ideas of what to do next. As this happened gradually over a number of weeks I think it may be a fault in the device. Can you help?
