Cannot connect my hard wired Hello nest door bell. I get the error code NC013 and cannot move the door bell close to our nest thermostat. Are there any options! Spent hrs trying to get connected and I am not happy! Help please!!

so after hrs of trial and error, what seemed to work was resetting my hello doorbell, resetting the modern and router and trying to connect. I had it connected to my laptop and was near my nest thermostat and router/modem. My phone app finally recognized the new item -  the hello door bell! I did not replace my nest app, which was going to be my next step. Working great. BTW used iPhone 11 Pro max with iOS 14.7.1

Your nest thermostat and nest hello don't need to connect to each other they need to connect to your home's Wi-Fi network.  I'm not even sure if they would be capable of connecting to each other if they are in setup mode.

Instructions just say bring as close as possible to another nest product - and I did do this but no connection to wifi seems to happen. Instructions say it (wired hello door bell) gets the wifi info from the other nest device (thermostat) . Certainly is not a simple install. Went on line to YouTube as well and will be trying to connect with USB cable. On YouTube this seems to be a very common issue - getting the door bell to connect to your wifi!!!!

     New device.
  5. Choose the home you want to add your doorbell to, or select Add another home to create a new one. Then, tap Next.
  6. The app will try to look for nearby devices. If prompted, select the Nest Doorbell battery as the device you want to set up.
  7. Use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code on the back of the doorbell. You can also tap Continue without scanning and enter the numbers near the QR code.
  8. The app will help walk you through setup and installation.

Had this problem once before with the wired doorbell not reading the thermostat on the network. I deleted and factory reset the thermostat so that it didn’t exist (took it off the wall even) then installed the doorbell first. After that, brought the thermostat back. It was a pain to have to redo a working thermostat but everything worked in the end.
