Chime

Hi

I'm new to all this but have just bought & fitted my new Nest battery doorbell & everything is working except the chime?!

You can hear it from the doorbell itself outside when pressed but it cannot be heard in the house?! I thought that I would get an alert & chime sound through my iPhone &/or my iPad but I am not hearing anything so I have no idea how I am supposed to know when anyone is at the door? I get video & audio when I am viewing 'live' but no doorbell chime.

I have clicked on 'more' & 'quiet time' and 'cancel' but that makes no difference.

Can anyone advise what else I should do, as I'm baffled.

Thank you.

PS - sorry but I do not know what 'choose a platform' means so I chose 'Web Browser?!

I think I may have just answered this for another member. I'm new here and I don't usually post on forums, so I'm not sure if there is a better way to link another post. So, if this link doesn't turn out right, search for the topic below, lol:

My doorbell is not sending me any notification and we can not hear the doorbell..

Hi

Can't see answer?!

Here, I just copied and pasted the answer from the other post. My bad.

I'm on the Pixel 6 Pro, so the Google Home App setting menus might be a little different than they are on iOS. I don't know, but it should be close I would imagine.

I recently ran into this while helping my brother-in-law install his. He has the traditional electromechanical bell. I don't remember exactly where in the app this is located, but I believe it says Electronic Chime with an on/off switch. His was turned off by default. We were hesitant to turn it on because I thought it was for one of the newer "electronic chime" style bells, but we turned it on, tested and it worked just fine.

No notifications or anything. Please help me fix this.

If it is similar to the Nest Camera (battery) configuration. I have the following:

Check under Settings > Events:

Under Seen Events:

Familiar face detection: On

Under Event History:

People: On

Your notifications: On

Animals: On

Your notifications: On

Vehicles: On

Your notifications: Off

Motion: On

Your notifications: Off

By turning on the People, Animals, Vehicle and Motion switches I'll be able to view all of those events that happened when I check history. However, I only want People and Animals events sent to me as notifications. This is the "Your notifications" switch under each section. The other two don't alert me but it still gets stored in history. You'll probably also have a Packages switch.

Also, take a look at under Settings > Notifications:

(Not sure if you have these)

I have Push notifications turned on and Away-only notifications turned off.

I like the Push notifications turned on so that I get battery alerts or error notifications.

The Away-only notification got me once... I was receiving Events when I was at work, but noticed I didn't get them when I was home. I looked around settings and this was turned on.

Did you figure this out? I'm so confused, it seems like this doorbell doesn't provide the basic functionality you'd expect from a doorbell, i.e. immediately alerting you in a noticeable way that someone is ringing the doorbell!

I do get a notification that pops up, but it is exactly the same type of notification I get when any other doorbell event occurs, and I don't seem to be able to set a different type of notification for someone actually ringing the doorbell. I want a more attention grabbing notification when my doorbell rings, but I don't want the same for every single doorbell event that occurs, like a person or vehicle being seen.

There is a setting to turn on "visitor announcements", which I thought might do what I want but that doesn't seem to actually do anything at all?

This is *so* frustrating, it's literally the most basic functionality you'd expect from a doorbell!!

Seems to be working OK now - I do get alerts when someone 'rings' the doorbell plus an alert when it sees deliveries, postman etc. It has pre-determined replies too which helps!
