I have a similar problem,  I'm starting to find out the hard way after many google product purchases,  that they are an inferior product compared to the competition.  I'm disappointed with mt Google doorbell and will be returning it

If i had read this forum i would've never have purchased any google cameras at all. Mine have been completely unusable for over a month now $2000 plus worth of cameras down the drain and google support have no idra whatsoever how to fix them. As for any other googke products never ever again...

In fact as soon as i see the battery cameras or associated products advertised i leave long indepth negative reviews. I just hope i  save other consumers from wasting their money and living the google product nightmares.

My notifications can be delayed by hours or never show up at all ever.

Mine does that too.

I have the same delay problem with the outside/inside camera it is pluged into a powerpoint outside The delayed notifications can be from 2 to 4 hours late I am very annoyed over $300 for a useless camera I have a wombat constantly digging under my house and I find out 4 hours later after he's already done the damage Come on Google fix the problem admit its a software/camera error

It's been broken for me for about 3 months now on my Nest Hello and Nest Indoor 1st gen camera. Notifications with the Nest Android app is delayed for ~1 hour or more when idle or is pushed when phone is unlocked.

There's been zero support/acknowledgement from Google on the issue.

I've been trying to get an answer for 3 years now....

Yep and google will blame everything except their inferior products and software. There's so many complaints plastered online in multiple forums and social media sites etc and google still try to make out it's not their products or software its an absolute farce.

Not 20 minutes for me, but last night as a test I walked to the front door, rang the bell (outside it went "bing bong!" as expected) then came back into the house, walked into the kitchen, got something out of the cupboard... and then my Nest Mini speakers and phone sounded the chime and popped notifications - a delay of around 30 seconds.  We've missed callers at the door as a result of this.  Been happening for a couple of months now.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out.  Is the issue happening with push notifications or both email and push? Do you all receive push notifications on multiple devices? Also, are your mobile devices connected to a network?

Could you all try to connect the mobile device to another Wi-Fi or cellular network? Signing in to your account on another mobile device and triggering a notification to test might also help isolate this.

Regards,

Juni

Still the same delay here.

Delay is happening on 2x phones and 2x Nest Mini speakers, so it's not down to one device (except the doorbell).

Delay on the phone is the same regardless of whether I'm connected to WiFi or mobile data.

Delay only started in the last couple of months. Nothing has changed here - no new devices installed that could have affected it. Have restarted phones, doorbell, router, speakers, and no change. Have also filled in a form I was asked to complete on here and have heard nothing.

I have noticed a delay, also starting within a couple of months. 2 phones, one Pixel one Samsung.

Notifications are not delayed going to my Google mini speaker, just the notifications to the phones. Sometimes it won't come through until I unlock my phone. Multiple restarts on both phones and doorbell, factory resets and resinstalled the App.

Hello Wired Doorbell

  • push notifications or both email and push? I just want the one on my phone to work correctly, don't care if email is delayed.
  • Do you all receive push notifications on multiple devices? No
  • Also, are your mobile devices connected to a network? Yes

Please help.. ive posted this concern for 3 years and it still isn't fixed... people at door are already backed out of driveway b4 I get a notification that someone was at my door.

This may be a blip but over the last few days the delay has dropped noticeably on all of our devices - its now back to about 5 seconds after the bell is pushed.  Still longer than it should really be, but significantly better than the 30 seconds or so it has been recently.  There appears to have been a firmware update to the bell - the image appears a lot brighter than before - and the version is now "1.67 OPENMASTER 361459 release-keys stable-channel stable-channel".  Nothing has changed with our devices or network, so it could be that the issue has been improved, if not completely fixed.

Following because we have the exact same issue. I've emailed "tech support" but they keep telling me it's a drop in wifi signal causing the delays. I explained my network is an industrial strength ubiquity switch with hardwired AP's (10 feet away from my 1st gen nest doorbell) but I keep getting the same response. They refuse to admit it's their hardware or software and keep insisting it's my network. This same issue happened a couple of years ago and was working fine until just recently.

I'm very disappointed in Google and are thinking to switch to Ring. Sad, because we own everything Google 😔

So I have an update on my delayed notification dilemma. After numerous emails back and forth with Google "tech support", which was useless, I had a point to prove.  They kept insisting that my issues with my 1st gen Nest branded doorbell are due to my WiFi.  I told them I have an access point (which is hardwired) 10 feet away from my doorbell and my signal is not the issue.  They wouldn't budge and admit it's their hardware causing this problem at all.

In the meantime, I was speaking someone who has extensive knowledge with networks and wireless products and he said something that made sense. Nest doorbells , in particular to the 1st gen, are still connected to the nest ecosystem and takes longer to communicate with the nest app (which I used with this device). The newer Google nest doorbell uses the Google home app and are Google branded.... Hence shouldn't have any issues.

So, I bought 2nd gen to test the theory. Wouldn't you know, it's NOT my WiFi, it was the older version doorbell after all. It works like a charm now  and  notifies me immediately!  Now why couldn't Google "tech support" tell me this upfront so I could avoid all the frustration and aggravation?

Google will never get their cameras or home app working correctly they're halfwits their software engineers are morons

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry for the delay and to hear you're having trouble with this. I appreciate your reports here in the Community.

If you haven’t done so already, follow the troubleshooting steps below (try to trigger a notification to test after each step):

  • Connect the mobile device to another Wi-Fi or cellular network.
  • Sign in to your account on another mobile device.
  • Connect the Nest cameras to a different network.

More information here: Nest notifications not working.

Keep me posted.

Thanks for chiming in, Emerson and Juni.

Cheers,

Lance
