Delay in Nest Doorbell (Battery) and Nest Hub Max Notifications

Over a year further and still not resolved: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Seeking-Assistance-with-Delay-in-Nest-D...

This is a known problem.

Now it should be about time that is getting serious attention. There have not been any serious effort in understanding and a permanent good working solution. Instead of giving standard text, please be honest and get back to us with a good reason.

"approximately 8 to 10 seconds from the moment the doorbell is pressed to the point when the speaker announces someone's presence.

This latency seems to undermine the primary purpose of having an integrated doorbell and speaker system, rendering it less effective than desired.

We have already tried the standard troubleshooting steps such as restarting, disconnecting, and reconnecting the devices, but these have not rectified the situation."

Hi R_JB,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that your Nest doorbell (battery) and Nest Hub Max notification are presenting an approximate 8 to 10 seconds of delay from the moment the doorbell is pressed to the point when the speaker announces someone’s presence. Thank you for letting us know the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve this inconvenience. No worries, help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • Could you please let me know when the issue started?
  • Have your devices ever worked fine before?
  • Are your Google devices firmware up to date?
  • Are you using the latest version of the Google Home app to set up your Google devices?
  • What is the distance between your Google devices and the router?
  • Did you receive any error messages in the Google Home app or from your Google devices?
  • Are your Google devices currently linked to a 2.4 or 5 GHz WiFi network?
  • Is there another Bluetooth signal available?
  • Could you please check if there are wireless interference like walls and floors, nearby WiFi networks, other electronics, cordless phones, baby monitors, microwaves, Bluetooth devices, and wireless video equipment?
  • Have you observed if the delay happens under certain conditions? (Weather, time, periods of time, or others)

In the meantime, you can try the following instructions to correct the delay you are getting:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap and hold your device's tile.
  3. Tap Settings, then go to the option “Audio,” and then tap “Group delay correction.”
  4. Move the slider to the left or right until the audio sounds in sync.

Thanks for your kind attention; I will be looking forward to your answer.

Best regards,

Virna
