Hi,

I'm having problems similar to https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Nest-Cams-showing-offline-but-are-not/m....

My new nest doorbell worked fine untill a few weeks ago when it suddenly stopped providing a live feed.

Sometimes it will work again for a couple of days but I haven't figures out what triggers the malfunction or what fixes it.

I've tried cutting the power and restarting my Google wifi access point but that doesn't seem to help.

Also when testing the connection from the Google wifi accesspoint to the nest doorbell via the google home app it shows a good connection. When I look at the usage statistics the bandwidth usage drops from around 500MB per hour to 0MB during the malfunction.

We don't have a "dumb" chime so we rely on doorbell notifications on 6 google home mini/nest hub devices around the house.

As you can see we are heavily invested in the Google/Nest ecosystem which makes it extra frustrating if things don't work as they are supposed to.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Piet

Hello pieteckhart,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I'd like to confirm, how far is it from your Wi-Fi router? Are there any appliances in between your Nest Doorbell and router that can interfere with the wireless signal? Try restarting your Nest Doorbell.

To know more about restart and reset, you may visit our public article about "Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell".

Regards,

Emerson

Hi, they are practically next to each other with only a thin wooden door and glass/wooden doorpost in between.

Regards,

Piet

Hi pieteckhart,

I appreciate your update. To further isolate this issue, have you tried restarting your Nest Doorbell? In case you do and are still having the same issue, you may reset it to the factory default and monitor its behavior.

To reset:

1. Locate the reset pinhole on the back of your Nest Doorbell.
Tip: The reset pin on your Nest Doorbell (battery) is located below the USB port on the back of the doorbell.

2. Insert and hold the pin (you can use an unfolded paperclip or a thumbtack):

  • At 10 seconds, the status light will blink yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
  • At 12 seconds, the status light will be steady, solid yellow while the doorbell starts the factory reset, and you’ll hear a confirmation tone.

3. Release the button. Your Nest Doorbell will restore to its factory settings.

4. After the factory reset, your Nest Doorbell will appear as “Offline” in the app until you remove it.

5. To remove it from the app, open the app, then tap Settings Nest settings icon Remove device Confirm.

Looking forward to your response.

Best,

Emerson
