Does Nest Hello Doorbell work with Lenovo 10" Smart Display in 2024?

I had always had it where pressing the doorbell would chime my Nest Minis 'someone at front door' and simultaneously it would bring up the front door feed on my Lenovo Smart Display, without me needing to do anything. This worked for years but stopped a few months back. I am getting back to troubleshooting and wondering if this is still supported by Nest Doorbell? I recall the Nest Hub products had an OS update kinda recently but the Lenovo (as a non google brand) did not. I'm wondering if maybe this is what caused it to stop working.

I am asking because before I go thru the steps to factory reset etc, if it just will no longer work, then I will know and save the trouble. Thank you

Thanks. I ended up solving. Here is what i had added to a similar reddit post I had going simultaneously, in case this is helpful for anyone else in the future. Thanks for checking in on me Juni and EmptyNester!

Just to update this for others I did end up getting it working. A few things

  1. It did not lose my familiar faces thankfully. Although I added it right back in like 1min so may be partially why but for future people that see this

  2. I ended up factory resetting the nest hello by removing and then holding the pin on back and doorbell button for 12 seconds. I then went into the nest app, removed it and re added it. For me this still did not work

  3. I then saw this thread that says turning on the indoor chime draws battery from the unit and sometimes won't display the feed. This actually did help fix my visitor announcement issue so I'd advise turn indoor chime off (mine is the old school chime). This still didn't fix it though

  4. I then factory reset my lenovo display and yep, the combination of resetting both devices, and turning off the chime (obviously make sure dnd is off and visitor announcements is on in nest app too) did the trick.

  5. Wow wasted half my day on this crap lol. At least back to working again. Thanks for the help and good luck to anyone running into this in the future. Looking back I may have just had to factory reset my display I don't know for sure but alas...

Hello, I'm, an end user like you.   I'm not sure what is going on there.  I would caution you about doing the full reset as some people report they have trouble getting the system back on-line after that.

I'm going to try and escalate this for you so that you can speak with an actual Google person for some guidance.

Good luck and please come back here and let us know if you got it working.

Hi folks,

Thanks for the help here, EmptyNester.

RoachForLife, thanks for reaching out and letting us know about your concern. A few questions: were there any recent changes made? Are you able to get notification on your phone when someone rings the doorbell too? Also, what troubleshooting steps have you taken so far?

You can disable and re-enable visitor announcement setting and observe if it makes a difference. Check out the link below to learn more about it.

Get doorbell visitor announcements on a speaker or display

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Juni
