Exporting a doorbell recording

"Exporting footage" issue

Hi, I had an incident in front of my house and  would like to export the footage from my Nest Doorbell.

I have tried to do that from the Home app - but there is no functionality there.

I have subsequently downloaded the Nest app onto my phone or have also logged in via a dell laptop through chrome. In neither interfaced I see my Doorbell.

So, a few questions:

1 - Should I see the device there?

2 - Any ideas on how to fix it?

It may be important to say that:

- The footage is only 3 minutes long

- I have tried "adding" the existing device to the nest account but it does not give me the option to do so for the doorbell only (it is greyed out). I believe that this is due to it already being connected to the home?

- my husband is the "owner" of the "home" setup (doorbell, family subscription, speakers and so on) however this is shared with me and I can access all devices through Google Home. But, due to him being away with work, the Annual Nest Subscription (paid for in full and active currently) was processed under my google account and not his.

I am keen to assist the investigations of the incident please 😃

Thank you so much for your help!

@LMA

Unfortunately, Google Nest decided that the new Google Nest cameras and doorbells released starting in Sept. 2021 would work ONLY in the Google Home app and NOT in the Google Nest app OR on the home.nest.com website. As a result, the newer cameras and doorbells do NOT have the ability that is present in the Google Nest app or on the home.nest.com website to manually edit video clips. With the newer cameras and doorbells, you can only download clips for events that Google Nest has detected.

Per Google Nest, your only recourse is to use some sort of 3rd-party video capture software on your phone to capture and save the video you want from your history.

Hello MplsCustomer,

Thank you very much for your time and explanation,

Ok, that is no problems. I am happy to download the clip from the google home app directly - it was detected by the camera's pre-set area and I have it there 😃

Do you have any idea how to download or export the footage from the google home app? I don't seem to be able to find such a functionality...

Thank you so much!
