Gemini for Home camera features

"To summarize what happened at home today, please turn on Gemini for Home camera features."

I think I have the latest version of the app and I have the Google home pro advanced or whatever it's called.  I'm running the preview version of the Google home app.  So I don't understand what I'm missing or where to turn this on. Anybody have any insight on this one?

@mrdcwolf If you're in a support country/language and have a supported device, see the "How to enable Gemini for Home camera features" section linked below.

As with so many things with Google it is confusing.    I don't have the option available yet either.   It looks like we  have to request EARLY ACCESS to get this feature.   I requested EARLY ACCESS just now but the feature is still not available to me.

There are (2) Steps I think you have to do
#1 If the option to turn on Gemini for Home camera features is missing,
joining the Early Access program is likely needed. The feature is gradually rolling out, so a notification may be needed after signing up for early access.
Here is how to get the option and troubleshoot common issues.

Enroll in the Early Access program
The Gemini for Home camera features are released through an early access program. Signing up is required.
Open the Google Home app and tap your profile picture or initial in the top-right corner.
Tap Home settings, then scroll down and tap Early access.
Follow the prompts to enroll. Google will notify you in the app when the feature is available for your home.

Confirm your device is supported
Not all Nest cameras or doorbells are immediately supported. For cameras and doorbells, the early access rollout began in October 2025 in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland.

Check account and subscription status
Certain Gemini for Home features require specific accounts or subscriptions.
Personal Google Account: A personal Google account is needed, as the feature is generally not available for work or school accounts.
Google Home Premium: Advanced capabilities, like AI-powered notifications, require a Google Home Premium subscription. Other features, like basic AI descriptions, are part of the Early Access rollout.

General troubleshooting steps
If enrolled, but the option is still not visible, try these steps:
Update the app: Make sure your Google Home app is version 4.0 or higher by checking for updates in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Clear app cache: Clear the cache for the Google Home and Gemini apps to refresh their connection with Google's servers.
Restart your device: A simple reboot can often resolve software glitches that may be hiding the option.
Wait for the rollout: The rollout is gradual. Even after signing up for early access, it may take days or weeks for the feature to appear.

Step #2 Where to find the setting after enabling it
Once the feature is available, the toggle to turn it on for specific cameras can be found.
Open the Google Home app and tap the Cameras icon.
Select the camera you want to edit.
Tap the More Settings icon (gear or three dots) in the top-right corner.
Go to Events > Seen events.
Turn on Gemini for Home camera features.

Thanks SaucyTony,  How did you know it was working?  What changes?

It had a redesigned app and I was getting prompts with Gemini. I was showing my friends over the weekend the home briefs. Today it reverted back to the old app
