Google Home - Camera video viewing is EXTREMELY slow

Hello Google

 

Since migrating from the previously working Nest platform to Google Home, viewing video now takes minutes to view.  And you can forgot about trying to skip around, this thing is basically unusable.  Viewing video is so glacial and happens on the web and the mobile devices, locally on wifi and remotely.

 

So Google what’s the problem and what are you going to do to fix it?  After all we are paying you for a subscription and this is totally rubbish!

I agree. I've had the same problem since I switched from Nest to Google.

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

 

  • What type of Nest camera do you have?
  • When did the inconvenience start?
  • Are the live feed and the video history too slow?
  • How far is the Wi-Fi router from the camera?

 

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

 

  • Uninstall the app: Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Google Home app.
  • Restart Camera: Follow the instructions in the Nest Help Center to Restart your Nest Camera. Depending on the model you have.
  • Restart Router: A simple restart can often resolve connection issues.
  • Check Wi-Fi Strength: Ensure your camera is within range of your router and that the Wi-Fi signal is strong.
