Google Nest Battery Outdoor Camera Not Charging

Gemma83

Hi

I set up my Google Nest Battery Outdoor cameras with no issues including charging them. I went to re-charge them up a few days ago and the magnetic charger was attaching to the metal magnet on the camera with no issues.

However, no noise or light came to indicate they were charging. When I checked them they had not charged up at all.

Any idea why this is and what I can do resolve it? Thanks

I don't know. We've had a battery camera for over 3 years, plugged in with the optional power cable; it's online and "Live" all the time, and the battery remains charged, but we never have to unplug the USB plug. The USB plug that plugs into the bottom of the camera doesn't seem very sturdy, and in the past I've seen a few posts from customers where their USB plug came apart. There have also been a few posts from customers who tried cleaning the contact points with a Q-tip and a little bit of alcohol.

You should get a pulsing white status light when the camera is charging, and a solid white light when it is fully charged:

If you can't get yours to charge, you could try contacting Support:

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.

Do you have the charging cord plugged in with the cord feeding towards the FRONT of the camera? Are you removing your cameras from the magnetic mount while charging them? (It seems it has to be dismounted in order to charge, based on posts in this forum and on Reddit, but this does not seem to be documented anywhere.)

Hi

Thanks for your response.

Yes cord is plugged and switched on and should be charging normally. And yes I am removing the cameras from the magnetic mount.
Any other ideas as to why it is not charging?
Thanks
