Google Nest Camera (Battery) Idle

MegsBowker

I bought a pack of 3 Indoor/Outdoor cameras (battery).  I charged each of them up to 100%, and then mounted them around my house outside.  I adjusted the settings to give me notifications for people, animals, and cars.  However, each of the cameras stay in Idle mode.  The only way I can see to take it out of Idle mode is to click on the "Live video" button, and they immediately go back to Idle mode as soon as I back out. I do not receive any notifications while the cameras are in Idle mode.  I've made all the necessary adjustments to all the settings, but I'm still not getting any notifications.  What is the point of these cameras???

Unfortunately, the new Google Nest Camera (Battery) is always in "Idle" mode when running on battery power. We have one that we bought in Sept. 2021 and have it plugged in with the optional power cable, so it is "Live" all the time. Other customers have posted in this forum indicating that, when in "Idle" mode on battery power, the camera seems slow to wake up in order to recognize and record events.

Hi Mpls,  but the complaint is that he isn't getting notifications.   When the camera (even on battery) sees motion and wakes up then they still get notifications, should they?

I don't know why there would be no notifications at all.  I'm just another customer, with a Google Nest Camera (Battery) that is plugged in all the time, and our camera is "Live" all the time, and we get notifications.

I think your best bet is to get help from an actually Google Tech.  This is just a user forum and Google doesn't respond here.   You can open a support ticket here:
