Just installed Google Nest Doorbell Camera (wired) 2nd generation. Works fine during the day (color), switches to B/W (Night Vision - set to Auto) at @ dusk, but nothing is being recorded from approx. 2100 to 0700. For example, I walk the dog out the from door right by the Nest doorbell camera at 1500 and the activity is recorded. At 0600 I walk out of the same door by the same Nest doorbell camera with the same dog, but nothing is recorded. When I leave the house 1.5 hrs later by same door and same Nest camera, the activity is recorded. Any reason why this Google Nest Doorbell Camera (wired) 2nd generation is not recording overnight?

Our 2nd gen plugged-in battery camera does not do well at detecting events at night, though it does record them because we have the 24/7 Nest Aware Plus subscription. If you have just the Nest Aware subscription, where only detected events are recorded, it could be you're encountering a similar weakness at detecting events at night.

Hello wsp,
I'm sorry to hear you're having some trouble with your Nest Cam. Let's see if we can get this figured out. First off, have you tried turning on Motion in the Seen Events settings? Sometimes that simple step can clear things up. Oh, and have you tried restarting your Nest Cam? A simple restart can often work wonders.
If you've tried all that and you're still having issues, let me know if this is happening to other Nest Cams in your home. That info could help us narrow down the problem!
Thanks for the help, @MplsCustomer.
Best,
Edmond

Turned Motion off since it was catching every car that drove by whenever the wind blew tree branches. I have People, Package and Animals turned on. It sees those great during the daytime and up until @ 1900, but nothing after that. Do these work at night, or only if you buy the Nest subscription?

Hi there,
Thank you for providing that information. I'd like to confirm if you've attempted a restart or a factory reset on your Nest camera. Please let me know if you've tried these steps and if you're still experiencing the same issue.
Let me know if that helps,
Best,
Edmond
