Google Nest doorbell (wired) no live

nnudoh

I just had my Google Nest doorbell (wired, 2nd Gen) installed. My wifi is fine but I’m not getting any live video. This was the very reason I purchased this equipment and paid a LOT of money to have installed. I’ve done my research and learned that many others have had this issue over the years. It’s extremely frustrating that Google has not been able to provide a solid solution to this issue. Based off my research, I may have to just return the doorbell and try a Ring (anyone have any experience with Ring doorbells-that are wired, not battery operated), please feel free to chime in…I’d appreciate it!

What does happen when you go to your 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell in the Google Home app? What happens if you go to Google Nest's preview website showing live feeds for all of our cameras and doorbells, home.google.com?  If you have a Nest Hub, what happens on the Nest Hub if you select your doorbell?

Hello!

In the Google Home app, the live video plays for about 10 seconds before it becomes “unavailable.”  Interestingly enough, when I go to the Google Nest preview website, the live video seems to play consistently. I don’t have a Nest hub.

I wasn’t aware of the preview website before so thank you for sharing this info. Although it’s still frustrating that the live video stream doesn’t seem to function well in the app, at least I can use the website to view the live stream if I really needed to.

If you're getting a good video feed on home.google.com but not in the Google Home app, you could try deleting and then reinstalling the Google Home app. You don't lose any settings; you just have to log back onto the app with your Google Account after reinstalling.

Hey there,

Thank you for bringing up the concern you're experiencing, I would love to look into this further for you. The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to restart your device. This process should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally.

Best regards,
Brad

Just started having same issue, no live feed and am hearing a loud buzzing noise. Have had camera installed for approximately 6-9 months. Very frustrating

@TeeDowns

So, if you go to your doorbell in the Google Nest app (if you have the Google Nest Hello Doorbell) or the Google Home app (if you have the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell) or on a Nest Hub, or on the home.nest.com website (if you have the Google Nest Hello Doorbell) or the home.google.com website, you get no visual video feed but you hear a loud buzzing noise? Or do you hear a loud buzzing noise from your doorbell outside?

The buzzing sound could also be an incorrectly wired "chime connector" or "chime puck".  If it's not that, then it does sound like a defective doorbell, but Google Nest Support will probably ask you to try a factory reset on the doorbell first.
