How do you fix the plastic on a cracking/peeling Nest doorbell? Mine is dangerously cracked.

Initially I thought it was just a plastic film that was peeling,  but when I touched it a piece of the plastic jabbed right into my thumb.  I do not want this happening to anyone else that rings our doorbell.  My doorbell is under a covered porch not in sunlight.
