I have a wired outside nest camera on my front porch. Everything works okay except I don’t understand whether or not it can be set to send me an audio alert for activity I specify such as person or motion within its zone. I mean, if all I get is a silent banner, what good is that supposed to do? When I’m in bed asleep I want to be alerted if someone comes around my porch or front yard, with a sound that I’ll hear. If it’s nothing but a silent banner on my phone or iPad, I’d have to stay awake all night to see it. And if I’m going to do that, why would I need a camera? Am I missing something?

Whether you get silent banners only or you also get a sound alert depends on how you've configured Notifications in iOS Settings for the Google Nest app. I have Sounds turned on in my iOS settings and get both a sound and a banner for events on two of our wired cameras on my iPhone at night. (I may not wake up; it depends on my phone's volume.)
