I don’t have any other Nest products but the setup guide insists that I do. That is, the troubleshooter code that I get NC6024 which concerns connecting to my other products!

NC024 is SUPPOSED to mean the install process found another Google Nest product in the same "home" in your Google Nest app or Google Home app, and couldn't connect to it. It's a common error reported here, and some customers get around it by temporarily turning off their other Google Nest products during the install and then turning them on again.
If you really have NO OTHER Google Nest products in your Google "home", perhaps you have a defective Google Nest Hello Doorbell and should contact Google Nest Support at: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Keep in mind, "other nest products" include Thermostats, smoke detectors and google speakers and hubs. Sometimes people forget them.
