Integration with Smartthings

Wondering if there is any update as to Nest integration with SmartThings. I see post daily back a few years but have not seen any resolution or plans.

I have multiple Nest cameras and recently purchased a doorbell and would like to have them part of SmartThings. Just hoping people and companies could work together more.

If you've already enabled the partner connection to SmartThings, you can find your connection here https://nestservices.google.com/partnerconnections. Click on the SmartThings option and there you should be able to enable the connection to your cameras.

Using the Google home app, you would select settings and then under Services, select partner connections.

That link results in a blank page

If the link is resulting in a blank page you must not have the partner connection setup. Try doing it through the Google home app.

Hi!

Want to control your smart home with just your voice? You can easily connect Google Nest speakers with SmartThings to unlock this powerful feature.

Control with Voice Commands:

Once connected, you can use Google Assistant on your Nest speaker to control various SmartThings devices by voice:

  • Turn on/off lights and plugs
  • Adjust thermostats
  • Activate pre-configured scenes (e.g., "Movie Night")
  • Check the status of motion and contact sensors

Things to Keep in Mind:

  • Currently, you cannot directly import devices set up in Google Home into the SmartThings app (unless they are Matter compatible and you are using a Samsung Galaxy device).
  • Google Assistant routines cannot be triggered by SmartThings devices, although specific actions within routines can include SmartThings controls.

How to control SmartThings with Google Home:

Follow these simple steps to set up voice control:

  1. Open the Google Home app and ensure you're logged into the correct account.
  2. Tap the "+" icon and select "Set up device" followed by "Works with Google."
  3. Search for "SmartThings" and tap it to begin linking.
  4. Enter your Samsung or SmartThings account credentials and authorize the connection.

Now you're ready to give voice commands! Here are some examples:

  • "Ok Google, dim the living room lights to 50%"
  • "Hey Google, set the kitchen temperature to 72 degrees"
  • "Ok Google, is the garage door closed?"

With this setup, you can experience the convenience of voice-controlled smart home automation through Google Assistant and your Nest speakers.

Hope this helps!
Brandon.
