I had a 1st gen wired nest doorbell, whuch worked with internal chime. Decided to upgrade to second generation wired. Installed as per instructions, including changing the puck in the chime. After install internal chime does not work. All instructions followed and have factory reset a few times, does not help.

I struggled with the same issue and did the same things you did. After reading quite a bit, it turns out that the 2nd generation doorbell does not work with the nest app; instead, it can only be used with the Google home app. It sounds like this is the same for some of the newer generation cameras. I hope this helps, and I wish I was wrong!

Hi folks,

@Hifz, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. The Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) has higher power requirements than most doorbells. You need a transformer that is rated for 16-24 V AC, 10-40 VA to provide enough power to your doorbell. If you've already installed your doorbell and you see a blinking yellow light on the front, your doorbell isn't receiving enough power.

To learn more, you may visit our public article about "Upgrade your transformer for Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen)".

I appreciate your response, Rob-C.

Regards,

Emerson

Just for reference, this turned out to be a cable issue. I was using an old telephone wire and had to double up the cores to allow more current through.
