After spending time on these forums it’s pretty clear that the battery operated nest cams are defective, or are being falsely advertised as doing things they can only do while plugged into a power source. So is there any legal action taking place against google? I’ve searched but found nothing to say so.

It's all Nest cameras, they are garbage, they just stop working after a few years, and Google could care less.

I couldn't agree more! They are defective and they don't support their product at all!

Hello everyone,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. We hear you and understand your thoughts about your Nest Cameras. Clearly this is not the experience we want you to have and we wanted to make it up to you with this. Could you give us the details of your concern about your Nest Camera doing things they can only do while plugged into a power source. Cold temperatures affect the battery life. As the temperature gets colder, the battery life gets shorter. Also, the battery in your Nest Camera or Nest Doorbell won't charge at temperatures below 32°F (0°C). To help prolong the life of your Nest Doorbell's battery, it will only charge to 75% if your Nest Doorbell is wired to the doorbell system. Before you install your Nest Doorbell, you can use the USB cable to charge the battery above 75%. However, after your Nest Doorbell is wired to the system, the battery will drop down to 75% and stay at that level or below. Hit this link for more information.
I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.
Best,
Emerson

I think there are concerns about the Google Nest Camera (Battery) when it is running on battery power. We are glad we opted for the optional power cable and have had it plugged in for 17 months.
We are unhappy with the limitations of the Google Home app, but are pleased overall with our Google Nest cameras and doorbells that work in the Google Nest app, and with our Nest Hubs, Nest Hub Max, and Nest Mini. Our oldest Google Nest device is almost four years old.

But as a battery operated camera it shouldn’t require a constant power source to work as advertised. It’s incredibly misleading to the consumer, that’s why I’m asking if there has been any legal action.

I’ve already sent”feedback” to google about the cameras faults/defects, is there a way to launch a formal complaint to google or it’s parent company. Again the camera doesn’t live up to what it’s advertised to do this is blatantly obvious simply by going through this forum, or by going to a search engine. And this isn’t a new problem, it seems to date back as far as 2021.

We can definitely understand your frustration if you feel you haven't had the best experience. As this is a community forum, your feedback is best served being sent in the app so it goes to engineers and developers. We appreciate your sharing with us, but please also share it in the app.
Best regards,
Brad

Hello Brad, thank you for answering me. I see you understand my frustration at the deficiencies of the product and how a person might feel lied to. I was hoping someone in the community had knowledge of a more formal complaints system that google or it’s parent company has in place. The feedback system seems inadequate for this particular issue, so I would feel remiss if I didn’t ask first here before I go stumbling about looking around for something that might not exist. Thank you for your concern on this matter I do appreciate it.

Why is this thread going to be locked when the issue is not resolved?

I think we all know the reason.

I guess everytime these junk cameras fail to wake up and record events I'll have to start a new thread if that's what they want!

That's What I've decided to do

A call to Google/Nest support is like going down a rabbit hole. For years I've converted many friends and colleagues to Google devices. I regret that very much now. After the experience I've had I'll never buy another Google device. I'm asked all the time about my phone (currently Pixel 6 Pro but other Pixel phones prior), my thermostat (Learning Thermostat) and multiple cameras and if I like them. I tell them I love the phone and thermostat, but the cameras are junk and I'll never own another Google device because of the poor customer service I received with my camera issue. Absolute worst customer service I've ever experienced. I've been an avid Google supporter for years and I'm through with them because of their pathetic service.
