Live video unavailable

I just purchased a Google nest 2nd generation indoor.   I've set it up and it just keeps telling me live video unavailable.   I've deleted and restarted,  gone into downgrade picture quality,  shut off wifi on all devices and still nothing.   Not sure what else to do and the advice already given on here was not helpful either.   TIA for any help

Let’s see if I can help you.  First the basics, I know sounds dumb.  Open the home app and go to wifi.  Then click devices. See it? If you do click on the camera, does it have an IP address?  What I’m asking to check is just basic flow charting to make sure it’s on the network

n my home app

Ok first my apologies I forgot to ask if had a Nest wifi router, which you don’t.  My bad.
From what I am seeing from the screenshot.  Open the camera, does the camera have a connection to your wifi.  You need to plug into the camera settings your wifi password.  Check that first

Upper right on your screenshot is a gear. Click that then device information.  All the way at the bottom the last line says IP.  Do you have numbers?  Like 192.x.x.x?

Ok, somehow your camera is there but no internet.  Before I suggest deleting the camera and starting over.  When you set up the camera did it ask you for you wifi name and password?  Also which camera do you have?

Yes it asked for both and it said it was successfull..  I have the Google nest 2nd generation indoor

What is odd is that it does not have an IP address. Meaning it’s either blocked or something else.  Do you use any kind of firewall or device that would restrict new wifi capable devices from joining?

Let’s start over but first reset the camera after you delete it from the app.  See below to wipe the camera and start fresh

  1. Locate the reset pin between the cord and the support arm.
  2. Press the pin once (you can use an unfolded paperclip or a thumbtack).
  3. Your camera will restart, and the status light will be steady, solid white.

I hit reply too fast.

Use the reset button

  1. Locate the reset hole on the bottom of the camera head. It’s between the power cord and the camera neck.
  2. Insert a paper clip, thumbtack or similar into the hole. Press and hold down.
    • At 10 seconds, the status light will blink yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
    • At 12 seconds, the status light will be solid yellow. When the camera begins resetting, you’ll hear a confirmation tone.
  3. Release the button. Your camera will restore to its factory settings.
  4. After the factory reset, your camera will appear as “Offline” in the app until you remove it
