Mechanical Doorbell Puck Problem (for Gen 2 Nest Wired Doorbell).

Had an ARLO door bell and today replaced it with a NEW 2nd Gen Nest  Wired doorbell bercause I HATE the way the ARLO calls the cell phone to speak to someone at the door.

In any case here is the issue;

#1) When I installed the new Nest Wired Gen 2 Doorbell  I left the ARLO "mechanical chime puck" on my mechanical chime and it continued to work fine.

#2) Then I removed the ARLO puck and my mechanical chime  still continued to work fine with NO PUCK on the NEST GEN 2 WIRED DOORBELL installed.

#3)  I then REMOVED the ARLO puck and installed the NEST PUCK that came with the new NEST WIRED DOORBELL (Gen2) and the mechanical chime DID NOT work.

Question is: Is it safe using NO MECHANICAL CHIME PUCK ??

I called NEST "support" (I use the term "support" lightly) and they asked me silly non-relevant question and first said using the ARLO puck was no good, then using NO puck was no good, then they told me to use the ARLO puck and will send me a new NEST PUCK.   Everything works great with NO puck as well as with the ARLO puck but no mechanical chime with the NEST puck.  This is really all pucked up. 🤣

I've noticed that other customers have reported problems with the "chime puck" for the 2nd Gen Google Nest Doorbell. Hopefully, the replacement "chime puck" they send you will work.

LOL, thanks for that!  Obviously it's a puck issue despite all the shucking and jiving their alleged "support" offers.   That logically explains why my ARLO "puck" works fine with the NEST but the NEST does not.  They keep suggesting "hire a professional"  with no knowledge that  "I are one".   EE graduated in 1970.   Yes, they did have electricity back then.  😀

Here's a customer who returned their whole unit to get a "chime puck" that worked.

Did you notice where he said "they told him they had no more to send out under warranty."  Amazing.  Just got an email with Fedex tracking with my replacement.  Probably will have the same problem unless they updated it because it seems the only one that work are the older "4-wire" versions from the NEST HELLO.
