My nest doorbell became blurry with a pink hue over night. How can I fix it?

I have wiped the lens clean and turned off night vision. The doorbell is located under an overhang and doesn’t get direct sunlight. I can’t think of anything else to do to fix it.

This doorbell is only a few months old. I just replaced my last nest doorbell that only lasted a year before dying. Am I buying lemons? Am I unlucky? Or is this product a flop?

I am having the same problem. I have seen the pink briefly before but now it is on the Nest Indoor camera which I use as backup for outside because Google doorbell freezes. Both camera videos are pink going back days! I need help.

Hi folks,

Thanks for taking some steps beforehand — these are of great help! Let’s further check this — how’s the temperature of the camera/doorbell (hot, warm, cold or normal)?

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. If the Night Vision settings are on Auto, switch it to Manual. Then, manually toggle the setting on and off. Observe the feed to check if the pink or purple tint goes away when you toggle the Night Vision settings off.
  2. Unplug the camera from the power source, wait for 30 seconds, and plug the camera back in. To view the steps on how to restart your doorbell, have a look at this article: Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell.
  3. Ensure the camera is installed in a supported location and not in an area prone to overheat or direct sunlight.
  4. Unplug the camera from its power source and reposition it after it’s had sufficient time to cool.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT

Hello, janthadeus. Cameras are not in direct sun. Temp yesterday was in the 50's. I turned off night vision after cameras were installed because I did not like the view. The doorbell is hardwired so I will not touch it. I texted the installer and now both feeds are normal. I will wait and see. Thank you.

Hey Christyw277,

Sounds good! Keep me posted.

Regards,

JT

Unfortunately, it didn't last for the indoor cam. I moved it to a window in the back of the house and moved my Ring tower cam from the back window to the front window as the backup for my doorbell. I have made a dozen calls to ADT since I had installed and I just can't deal with this equipment. Huge waste of time and money. Thank you for your time.

Thank you, Brad. Unfortunately, the link gave me incorrect information. Specifically, in Step 1, there is no "Settings, Recognition and Sharing". I would love it if it was sent automatically rather than my having to send individual feedback on individual videos. Will ask service individual when they come to the house.

Thank you for the feedback there. It is still the best way to send in your experiences to us.

Well, it hasn't improved any. The doorbell continues to be idle most days from 1pm to 11pm. This is unacceptable when the doorbell is hardwired into my house wiring. A place of business would not accept this kind of equipment why should I? What is the point of a high-priced security system when it can go to sleep when it chooses. I used to think ADT was the best. Not anymore.

Hello to all. Just had the technician here and apparently the 2nd Gen 24/7 Google doorbell is not available yet. Google and ADT should not be selling 1st Gen at all is all I can say at this stage. I appreciate all your advice and felt good talking to the tech about the 1st Gen problem. I think I surprised the poor fellow. Thanks again, everyone!
