My new doorbell camera does not connect to my WI-FI

I had two nest doorbell cameras that worked just fine. One camera failed so I had ro replace it. Since they no longer make a 1st generation doorbell camera, I had to replace it with a 2nd generation doorbell camera. The 1st generation device was installed using the Nest program, while the second generation device could only be installed with the Google Home software. All installed OK except the 2nd generation camera would not connect to the WI-FI. I have moved doorbells around with the same results, only one of the cameras would work. I even ran a temporary set of wires through the house so that the 2nd generation door bell camera was in the same room as the router. Still no results to get them to connect. I have tried everything that has been suggested with no luck. I now feel this is probably a software issue. Has anyone else come across this problem? What did they do to fix it? Surely, my house is not the only one in the country with two door bells.

Hi frankh1,

Thank you for posting here in the community. I'm sorry that you are unable to install the 2nd Google Nest Doorbell Second Gen to your WiFi. I understand how frustrating it can be. But don't worry; let me help you.

I just want to confirm. What is the error message that you have when you try to connect the Google Nest Doorbell Second Gen to your WiFi?

Meanwhile, please try these steps:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Devices, then Add, then Google Nest or partner device.
  3. Choose the home you want to add your doorbell to, or select Add another home to create a new one. Then, tap Next.
  4. The app will try to look for nearby devices. If prompted, select the Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd generation) as the device you want to set up.
  5. Use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code on the back of the doorbell. You can also tap Continue without scanning and enter the numbers near the QR code.
  6. The app will help walk you through setup and installation.

Please keep me posted; I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Byron
