Nest Aware Subscription on different cameras in different home structures

Hi,

I have the following Google nest camera set up at the same address, but was advised by Google support when I contacted them to set different camera types up in different structures within in the same house. When I activated my Nest aware subscription after the trial expired in only works on the doorbell and I can't work out how to apply it to the other cameras.

Structure 1 - Front Garden - Nest Doorbell Cam - Nest aware 12 month subscription works

Structure 2 - Back Garden - 2x Nest Wireless Camera - Nest aware free trial expired

Structure 3 - Rear Driveway - 1x Nest Wired Camera - Nest aware free trial expired

It's all on the same Google gmail account in the same house so I assumed if i paid for theNest Aware subscription it would update to all cameras but it hasn't. I also followed online support to install them so they must be set up correctly.

I would love to hear a quick fix for this that doesn't involve setting up new home structures!

Many thanks in advance

I'm just another Google Nest customer, but Nest Aware subscriptions apply to only one Google Nest "home" or "structure".

I have no idea why Google Support would advise you to set up separate homes/structures for different camera types; that seems an odd recommendation, especially given that Nest Aware subscriptions apply to just one "home".   We have just one "home", with outdoor cameras (including 1 battery camera), indoor cameras (including 1 second gen camera), and doorbells.

You could remove the cameras from "Structure 2" and "Structure 3" and add them to "Structure 1".  You can still put them in different "Rooms" in "Structure 1".

Thanks for the reply. I wanted the the cameras all in the same home structure, but live video would not work on the wireless cameras in the same home so Google support said I had to install it in a different structure, the same went for the doorbell cam. All were brand new only recently purchased and I was told all the cameras would work under the same Aware subscription despite being in structures as they were in the same house.

Looks like I need to contact them and get them to sort it out then.

@AdyG74

I don't know why "live video would not work on the wireless cameras in the same home". We've had a Google Nest Camera (Battery) for a year--plugged in with the optional power cable--and it's "Live" all the time and recording 24/7 with our Nest Aware Plus subscription, and it's in the same "home" with our older Google Nest wired cameras and doorbells.  All are on the same Wi-Fi network.

@MplsCustomer

Yeah I was baffled by it too, I'm normally pretty good with technology like this but found no logical explanation why it was doing this for me. It looks like it should work then, and I was given the wrong advice by tech support. I was trying to avoid going through hours of problem solving with a quick fix, but looks like it all needs reinstalling then.

Thanks for the help and advice.

@AdyG74

I don't think it's a reinstall.  You'd remove the cameras from one "home" and add them to another.  You could try them one at a time and see how it goes.

You could try removing the camera in Structure 3 (since there's just 1 camera there) and then adding it to Structure 1 and see how it goes, and contact Support if you have any problems.

Once each "home"/"structure" is empty you can delete it (unless you have other household members in that "home").

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response, and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I understand how upsetting this concern may be, and I'm happy to assist you with this obstacle in any way I can. Your Nest Aware subscription will cover a single home/structure, so if you have more than 1 household, you will need separate subscriptions. Here is a great link on how nest aware works and how to subscribe, and here is a link on how to manage your subscription.

Best regards,

Brad

Hi Brad

I took the advice of @MplsCustomer and moved each camera over one by one to the structure that the subscription worked on. I did cancel and then renew the subscription when it was all working correctly. Everything including thermostats, lights and speakers all works in the same home structure with the cameras now as it should.

I really don't know why the cameras didn't function correctly when added to an existing home structure, and I'm hoping it doesn't have issues if I add more, but hopefully know how to resolve it now.

Thanks for the help everyone.
