Nest Cam IQ Outdoor Power Adapter

The Nest Cam IQ Outdoor Power Adapter is out of stock, and many members on this forum say that it has been discontinued.  The camera blinks red, indicating it isn't getting enough power no matter what outlet it is plugged into.  Will most any usb-c cable and plug adapter work to power the camera?  How can I continue to use my camera since the original cable/plug have gone bad?

The core of the problem is that the "outdoor" camera was originally sold with an indoor power adapter, and did not originally come with a "weatherproof" power adapter.  Now, people who have installed these "outdoor" cameras outside with their original equipment are seeing them fail.  And, the weatherproof version of the adapter, "Nest Cam IQ Outdoor Weatherproof Proof Power Adapter", has been maddeningly out of stock but still advertised in the Google store for a very long time.  It turned out that my Nest Cam IQ Outdoor Security Camera was still under warranty, and I was able to get original replacement indoor parts, which I guess might make it work until the warranty lapses, if the weather stays nice.  I think Google should remove the weatherproof power adapter from its store if it isn't ever going to restock.

Hey folks,

Restarting and factory resetting your Google Nest camera or doorbell will have different results:

Restart: Keeps all your settings, and it should reconnect to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever becomes frozen, has trouble reconnecting to the internet, or isn't working normally.

Factory reset: Erases all your settings and options, and restores its factory default settings. It will not automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi and you'll need to set it up again.

You can find this information, plus additional information on this process here. Please let me know if you have further questions.

Best Regards,

Brad.
