Nest Cam Issues

Sag1
Community Member

I am trying to add the Nest Cam to the Nest App. After all the steps, it takes me to a page where I have to enter the serial number but there is no where to enter it.

Any suggestions?

@Sag1

The Google Nest Camera (Battery) can only be installed in the Google Home app. You'll have to use the separate Google Home app for your new camera. We've been using the Google Nest app for our older cameras and doorbells and the Google Home app for the newer battery camera for 20 months now, waiting for Google Nest to bring them all back into the same app (if they ever do).

Okay thank you.

how come the camera is idle when trying to view it

@Sag1

If your battery camera is not plugged in and instead is running on battery power, then it is usually in "Idle" mode, and is supposed to wake up when it detects an event so it can record it. If you select the camera in the Google Home app, you have to select a live view wake up the camera in order to view the camera's livestream.

Our battery camera is plugged in with the optional power cable, so it is "Live" all the time.
