Nest Cam battery needs scheduling function!

Since most other threads related to this topic seemed to be locked, I'm starting a new one. As I just found out after dropping $150 on the Nest Cam battery, there is no ability to set schedules. It is set up in Home vs Nest, and Home has no scheduling function. It's also not recognized in Home as a "device" so you have no control in routines, either. I was going to buy a 2nd one for another unpowered area, but no way. Not until this is resolved. C'mon Google - you're better than this!

Are they though? We are all beta testers, but things rarely leave beta

Can you explain more about the app Nest vs Home?  I use nest for my doorbell and am looking at cameras (floodlight/camera combo).  I would prefer use nest app.

Yes, in spite of my frustration expressed in the first sentence I keep coming back to google.

Not an expert, but here is what I know from personal experience:

We also just got the wired doorbell. As you learned during installation, it installed from the Nest app. Our Nest thermostat did, too.

We also have (5) Home speakers/minis scattered throughout the house.  (Yes, I went a bit crazy during sales, plus we has a bigger house. 😉 Those, along with other "works with Google" gadgets (Kasa smart bulbs, outlets, cams; myQ garage door opener; LG washer/dryer) are all integrated into the Home app, as well as their native apps (Kasa, myQ, LG ThinQ). All have varying degrees of control in Home, which we use as a coordinator for voice control, routines, notices on our phones/watches.

My immediate issue with the Nest battery cam is that it installs in the Home app, not Nest. Home provides no scheduling abilities for this item, like Nest does with the doorbell. The cam can be viewed from Home, turned on/off, a few other settings. But no scheduling. So, this cam that is on our mostly private back deck reports every time one of us goes out the door, walks past mowing the lawn, etc. I would like the ability to turn it off during the day, on overnight for the security reasons that I purchased it for. (Google Home also does not seem to recognize the cam for use with voice controlled options, so I can't add it to a routine.)

If I'd done more research and not made reasonable assumptions about the Nest cam, I might have considered the Kasa cam battery option, instead. The indoor ones that we have work well, have decent interface with Home and are half the price. Using the separate Kasa app for fine tuning is no more annoying than what I'm currently doing, manually turning the Nest cam on at night, off in the morning.

Hope this helps!

This is very frustrating that nest cams cannot be set to a time schedule

Solved the problem, sort of... I returned the Nest Cam and got 2 Kasa cams, plus a siren base for the same price. Have to use another app (which I was already using) but I have all the control now. Sorry Google - love my speakers and the doorbell, but I've gone elsewhere for the cams.

Brad, No this hasn't been solved.

Why has Google decided not to include simple feature like scheduling on/off time for cameras based time of day and day of week? Instead the only option I see is to setup whether I'm home or not based on my physical location which is not what I need and doesn't even work well.

I have cameras (the new Nest wired cams) in our house to monitor our infant child and her nanny.  I want the cameras on on weekdays from 830 am to 5pm regardless of whether or not I am physically present in the house.  This is such a basic feature that I thought was included when I decided to go with the Nest ecosystem. How can we achieve this result?

Yes, I'd like to return my cams also google. Not sure I'm within the return window anymore but this is outrageous that they cannot be put on a simply daily time schedule. I'd like someone to contact me and offer a return so I don't have to waste half day trying to get someone on the phone.

I just got a wired cam and realized that there is no schedule option and it doesn’t work with Nest app.
Google, really? It’s so basic stuff! The camera is just useless without these basic features!
