Nest Cam say offline

saoudekerk

So I have 4 Nest Cam (battery). 2 are powered all the time and 2 are on the battery (waiting for the solar panels if they ever are released). So the constant notice I get is my 2 that are powered say they are "offline" several times per day. Now and again they will have days of more than other, either way it is pretty annoying. They are actually closer to my router than the 2 battery ones. So I am 99% sure that is not the problem. I have checked to see if there are software updates, all are up to date. Does anyone have any input as to what I can do to get these to stay connected?? Also, there are times where it seems like the camera's respond faster than other times as well. Perfect example the UPS man came and delivered something the other day. I saw him pull up out front of my house as I was upstairs. He left said package at the back door and I saw him pull away before I got a notice from any of the camera's around my house. Other times the notification happens MUCH faster. TIA.

Hi saoudekerk,

Thanks for reaching out! I appreciate for sharing what's going on with the two of your Nest Cam Batteries. Let's get this sorted — help me out with these questions:

  1. When did the issue start?
  2. How far is the camera from the router?
  3. Do you have other Nest devices in the house?
  4. Are there other devices connected to the same Wi-Fi where the camera is connected to?
  5. Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the camera?
  6. Do other devices experience slow internet speeds?
  7. What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
  8. For cameras with status light turned off, have you tried to move the camera to a different power outlet?
  9. Does the power outlet have a switch?
  10. What Wi-Fi frequency band do you try to connect to (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)?

Looking forward for your response.

Thanks,

JT

I will answer all of your questions using the same numbers.

1. The issue has been happening for the last few months

2. As I stated the 2 cam's that do this are closest to the router and are the 2 that are on power 24/7

3. Yes, I have several other Nest devices

4. Yes they are all connected to the same wifi

5. no.

6. Occasionally the Home Max will buffer when we are streaming live TV

7. I have rebooted my network several times.

8. Not sure how this question applies, 2 cam's are on battery only no issues, 2 cam's on 24/7 power are the ones that give us this problem.

9. No they are on outlet with constant power.

10. 2.4

Hi saoudekerk,

Thanks for sharing that information and I appreciate your efforts. Let's dig deeper into this.

Give these steps a try:

Restart the cameras.

  1. Locate the reset button at the back of the camera. The reset button on the Nest Cam (battery) is located on the back of the camera head.
  2. Press and hold for 5 seconds.

Your camera will restart, and the status light will be steady, solid white. If the same issue occurs, try to factory reset your cameras by following these steps:

Remove the camera from the app

  1. Open the Home app or the Nest app.
  2. Tap the camera that you want to reset.
    • Tip: To help restore your settings after resetting your camera, write down or take a screenshot of your camera settings.
  3. Tap Settings > Remove device > Confirm.

Please check this article for your guide to factory reset your cameras.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

JT

I have been through all those in the past and it still does the same thing.
