Nest Doorbell 2nd Gen (wired) Offline and Not Recording

nnudoh

I’ve had my nest doorbell 2nd Gen for a little over 3 months and this thing has not worked efficiently since I’ve purchased it. The camera regularly goes “offline” and I’ve noticed that entire time periods throughout the day have not been recorded. This defeats the purpose of having this doorbell camera. I recently ordered an item from Amazon, and Amazon claims it was delivered. However, I did not receive my package. I tried to go back to the time when Amazon said the package was delivered on the nest doorbell camera feed in the Google Home app (4:22pm) , but no footage is available for this period. Instead the footage available starts at 6:30pm and nothing before this time is available. This is so frustrating and I’m wondering if the layoffs Google implemented has anything to do with the functionality of the app and there not being enough people to really work on making the app and Google products work the way they should. It sucks that I bought this item for security purposes but it’s turned out useless. After chatting with others I may have to invest in a ring doorbell with Amazon.

@nnudoh

It may also be due to Wi-Fi issues. I'm just another Google Nest customer but our cameras and doorbells remain online.

I think my Wi-Fi works well. Just about every electronic product I own (computers, phones, iPads, TV, washer & dryer, etc) is connected to my wi-fi and I have not had any issues with any of these items. It's only the nest doorbell (wired) that I recently purchased that has not worked efficiently since it was installed. Interestingly enough, the battery version of the Nest doorbell worked a better (I purchased this one initially); however, the battery would die out after 1.5 days, requiring me to charge it (which took forever). After reading many other complaints about the Nest wired doorbell on these message boards (as well as on Reddit), I've discovered that I'm not alone in having these issues and that basically, Google created a defective  product.

Same **bleep**! I purchased Google Nest Doorbell 2nd gen Wired and connected with compatible Ohmkat power adapter and wireless bell (Ohmkat). Occasionally get message that your doorbell is offline. WiFi router (Google Nest WiFi Pro 6e) located nearly (distance - 1,5 meters between Doorbell and WiFi router). Power adapter and cable is ok, there is no problem with electricity. Doorbell not saving more videos, after offline/online all videos clear from memory. Can't register Nest Pro, because not eligible country!

Last 6 month purchased Wifi Pro, Pixel 7 Pro, Buds Pro, Nest Doorbell Wired, Google One subscription from Google. Unfortunately I'm not happy! Because all this devices/services not working properly! If someone planing to purchase this  devices don't do this. I don't recommend Google devices.

Hello everyone,

@nnudoh, thanks for posting here in the community. To confirm, how far is your Nest Doorbell from your Wifi router? Could you try checking the speed of your Wifi beside your Nest Doorbell? Let us know your update here.

@Rahib I understand your concern. However, I wanted to confirm if you have a Nest Aware subscription? The Nest Aware would let your Nest Camera or Nest Doorbell to record up to 30 days of event video history while the Nest Aware Plus can record up to 60 days of event video history with up to 10 days of 24/7 video history. Hit this link for more information.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Regards,
Emerson

Thank you Emerson!

As you advised I subscribed to Nest Aware with 30 days of event video history. I will test Aware subscription and if experience will be good later I'll update my subscription to Aware Plus.

I have bad experience with Google One subscription,  so now I try to think a lot before subscription to any Google expensive service.
