Nest Doorbell Peeling

Hi guys,

My wife and I received a nest doorbell for a wedding present in August of 2019. Since we lived in an apartment at the time, this was not installed until we purchased a house the following year in August of 2020. We installed the doorbell at the end of that month, so it has been installed at our property for less than 17 months at this point.

After Christmas I started noticing that the plastic on the doorbell face has started to peel, and it has cracked and gotten much worse in the past two weeks.

I was able to have a chat with a google representative, who mentioned that this product was out of warranty. It is incredibly unfortunate because I have spent a not insignificant amount of money on the nest aware product since we moved in, and I'm now having to consider switching hardware because frankly the doorbell just looks like crap with the cracked plastic.

How prevalent has this issue been for you guys? I would prefer to stay in the nest eco-system, but if the product is just going to have crappy materials and start to fall apart after not even a year and a half I'm hesitant to buy nest products again.

Thankful for any insight anyone can provide!
