Nest Doorbell V2 Wired - Not able to connect to google account - please try again

MutantMan78

Just got the V2 Nest Doorbell. I go through setup in the Google home app and get all the way to where it is asking to select a Wi-Fi network, it connects to the Wi-Fi, then gives me an error about not being able to connect to Google and to try again.

I did recently reset my wifi network because the band steering was messing with my ability to hook several of my smart devices, and now have a 2g and 5g band to connect to, and in doing so I deleted my home in Google Home and restarted.

Everything is working now including my Nest Thermostat V1, but I still have the issue with the new doorbell.

I believe you have to use a separate app... "Nest" blue icon with a white house

You are in the right app, the Nest app that @CJL mentioned is only for the original doorbell, not v2 as you mentioned you have. I've been having this same issue for 2 months. Same boat as you with a great wifi connection. The doorbell even worked flawlessly for a month. After google released an update to the Home app my connection to wifi started dropping and they had me completely remove the doorbell from the Google Home app as a troubleshooting step. I haven't been able to connect it since... 2 months without a doorbell at all. Not even the chime works. Google has been absolutely useless. I paid an electrician to update my transformer and it worked, so I know the issue is not on my end, yet their support asks me things like "Did you install a new front door which could be interfering?" No. Nothing has changed other than the bug that was introduced into the software.

Hello everyone,

@MutantMan78, thanks for bringing this up here in the Community. We're sorry for the delay. When installing your Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen), you need a transformer that is rated for 16-24 V AC, 10-40 VA to provide enough power to your Nest Doorbell. If you've already installed it and you see a blinking yellow light on the front, your Nest Doorbell isn't receiving enough power. To confirm, what is the light status of your Nest Doorbell? We would recommend you to reset it to the factory default and add it back to your Google Home app. Let us know how it goes.

@AveryReid, we know where you're coming from and this is not the experience we want you to have. We appreciate you sharing your experience here. Just to be sure, how's it going with your Nest Doorbell? Aside from upgrading your transformer do you still need assistance or any concerns? Looking forward to your response.

I appreciate the help, CJL and AveryReid.

Regards,

Emerson
