Nest Doorbell (formerly Nest Hello) Delayed Notifications

I understand this topic has been beaten down pretty good. No matter the number of threads and forums I have been on, I have not found a solution.

My wife and I constantly get delayed notifications from our Nest Hello. This started a little over 2 years ago and has been getting progressively worse. I have factory reset, and I have changed settings on my wifi network to no avail. No other devices have any issues on my network (even legacy devices). Whether we launch the app or click the notification, the minute someone rings the door, it takes upwards of 10 minutes for it to load appropriately if at all. Sometimes, I have to exit the app and reload. I have also wiped my phone a couple of times since. I have read similar issues with other newer Google doorbells so It can't be localized to just our household. We continue paying for a service we can't take full advantage of.  Any thoughts would be appreciated in solving this.

Same issue for me. I consistently get a 10-15 sec delay on my doorbell when someone's rings my nest wired doorbell. I have Verizon FiOS 1gigabit internet, with a wifi 6 router and a whole google ecosystem with hub max, small google speakers etc.

I agree Odie5. I'm not sure if firmware is a root cause or if something else is at play with Google/Nest merge. We also have fiber 1g into the house and a Unifi Wifi system built into the house so coverage is certainly not an issue.

Hey there,

Thank you for bringing up the concern you're experiencing, I would love to look into this further for you. The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to restart your device. This process should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally. I would also try to move your Wi-Fi connection closer to the doorbell if you can. And reset your phone too as that may help.

Best regards,
Brad

Brad,

In all due respect, is this just a template answer? I already noted that I went as far as factory resetting; that should tell you that I have exhausted all options. To be more granular for you, the wifi connection is close, the signal strength is -60 dBm which is more than adequate for signal throughput. On top of that, I have also wiped my phone completely and factory reset that as well. Anything else you think I should try?

Thanks,

No, it definitely wasn't a template response, but I must have simply missed you stating you have already tried those steps. Delayed notifications are hard to troubleshoot as there are multiple factors at play. Internet/Wi-Fi speeds, distance, software-related delays, etc. so it would be in your benefit to please fill out this form, and a higher tier of support will reach out to you with next steps.

Best regards,

Brad

My wireless router is on the second floor right above the nest doorbell. It’s no more than 6 feet apart, and it’s a wireless 6 router with tons of range that goes all the way to my backyard 50 feet away.

I have already tried those troubleshooting steps

I honestly think it's a server-side issue during the Google/Nest merge. Google will throw this under the rug and I know for a fact this will not get resolved. I did fill out their form but I am certain that it will not go anywhere; ends up just blowing smoke and you're on your own type of scenario. I will be switching out of the Google ecosystem this year as there is simply no decent support with original Nest products probably getting phased out completely.

I have also filled out the form, heard nothing back. I am hopeful when the matter protocol comes out it will change things, however I also agree this is really dissapointing.

I am sorry to hear you haven't been contacted yet by support, when did you submit the form? Also, have you tried to also reach out to support outside the form I sent?

Best regards,

Brad

i have seen other threads here speaking about the same issue. I originally thought having a unified platform, being able to see the video feed on my hub max when someone rings the doorbell and also controlling my nest thermostat would be really cool. However google has dropped the ball on all these products, except the thermostat which is a nest product anyway. I don’t really utilize my hub max all too much tbh
