Nest Doorbell v2 Wired

I recently installed a Nest Doorbell v2 Wired and I am having issues with it sending notifications to any other device. It doesn't send notifications to my phone, or any speaker/display in the same home group. I have no zones set up, and Visitor Announcements is turned on.  Events are also not registering within the app(no doorbell and motion history).

All notifications are turned on in my phone, and the displays are all not on DND.

The doorbell functions correctly outside of this; I can view the live feed from my phone or home displays and it rings the indoor chime.

This is honestly frustrating for such an expensive doorbell, and the main function I bought it for is not working out of the box.

I'm experiencing the same problem.  I have all notifications on within the Google Home app, and I'm not getting any notifications pushed to any devices.  I have a zone set up and nothing.  I can tap the doorbell icon in the home app and see all the activity during the day which does me no good, if I'm away from the home and don't get an alert that someone is in my front yard.

Any luck yet? I just installed one too. Have all the alerts on, zone, etc. I turned off familiar faces, and did get an alert once. The doorbell PRESS alerts were sort of working. Sometimes they would come in in about 3-4 seconds, then other times, much longer. I don't get it. The H/W seems solid, and the mechanical CHIME relay works perfect. But notifications are not great at all. Which is really why I bought it.

If you figure anything out, let us know.

After doing the following, everything seems to be functioning correctly, but will update in a few days to confirm.

I turned off the camera through the app, then turned it back on (it seemed to not want to turn back on).

That did not work for me. So I ripped it off the house and was getting ready to return it. I did however do this just before boxing it back up. Deleted it from my account, then reset it to factory defaults. I had to press in the button on the back of the doorbell for about 10 seconds (not the 5 they say on the website). Then it seemed to restore to factory defaults. I re-added it to my account and for the heck of it did some testing. Now in my house in a test environment, it seems to maybe be working better.  I also shut off the "Familiar Face Detection" thing. Because it seems that if it recognizes someone, it doesn't seem to give you an alert that they are standing at the front door! Which is stupid. It's supposed to. But that was before I reset it. Keep in mind I've only had this for about 3 days and installed for 1. So if I have to restore to factory defaults every 3 days, that's not good. Perhaps it got confused with some setting I tried adding.

Anyhow, I seem to get a "person seen at the front doorbell" events in about 5 seconds.

As I wrote this, I did ONE MORE test. I stood in front again to make sure its sending alerts. NOTHING now. Are they using some sort of **bleep**ty AI to detect that it's the same person in front of the camera from 5 minutes ago and not sending a second alert????? Again, that's no good. If someone leaves and comes back in 5 minutes, I want another alert. There's something fishy going on with this thing.

BTW I also have the Lorex 2K camera as well. That seems to work better for alerts. It's a bit slower to send the alert to the mechanical door chime receiver (say 1-2 seconds), but the notifications seem better. The google at least rings the mechanical door bell instantly. I really wanted the Google one to work better than this.

So I left it alone for about an hour and came back in front of it again. It indeed gave me a motion alert in about 8 seconds. And when I pressed the doorbell, about 3-5 seconds.

So it looks like if the same person appears in the camera in a short time (not sure what parameter they use), you do not get a second alert. Not sure I like that.

It's still not working for me.  Done a few things except for the reset.  But let be honest, this device should work straight out of the box, and it doesn't.

I randomly got one notification yesterday when a package was delivered.  But today I was home all day and another package was delivered with no notification .  So frustrating!   I'm getting real tired of Google products not working properly.  I have their WiFi, Chromecast, Pixel 6 pro, nest thermostat and now the nest doorbell (and not to mention a stock position).  You would think that all should work seamlessly with each other.  That is far from the truth.  This only devices that works well is the phone to Chromecast.  And the Google Home app is garbage.  Get is together Google, or I'm switching it up to ....you know who... anything but Google!

Maybe time to sell your stock 🙂

Try this page. I turned on critical alerts and it sped it up a bit. Also, after some testing, I've determined that if it sees the SAME person within 10 minutes, you only get 1 alert. That's maybe ok, I'm not sure. So if I am seen by the camera, I'll get an alert. Then if I come back in 5 minutes, no alert. If I come back in another 5 minutes, no alert. It seems to reset the timeout every time it sees you. Then if I come back in 10 minutes, another alert.

Also, I did reset to factory defaults too. Not sure that did anything. I think it was more that I wasn't waiting long enough for it to generate another alert.

Also, to reset it to factory defaults, you press the button on the back of the doorbell (with a pin or your iphone sim card ejector thing). You have to hold it about 10 seconds before it resets. The docs said 6, but I don't think that works. I think that just restarts it.

I'm comparing this and the Lorex 2K doorbell. So far the Lorex is better. But I like the Google one because it's FAST to send the signal to the mechanical doorbell chime. The lorex has a bit of a delay (1-2 seconds).

But the Lorex alerts seem better so far.

I really want the Google one to work though. I wish I could adjust that timeout between alerts.

BTW Which one were you thinking of if the google one doesn't work?? Don't say Ring?
