Nest Doorbell wired keeps dropping wifi connection

Doorbell has been working for several years with no issues.  Recently went offline.  Restarted Doorbell several times.  It works for about 10 seconds and goes offline again.  Restarted again, rebooted wifi/router, verified power connections.  Same results.

@JSchweers

You could try removing your doorbell from the Google Nest app or Google Home app (depending on which doorbell you have) and trying a factory reset:

I did try to do a factory reset and it never reset.  However I didn't remove it from the Home app.

@JSchweers

Did you use the "factory reset" instructions rather than the "restart" instructions?  (When you do a factory reset and then remove it from the Google Home app, you'd then have to reinstall it.). This is usually a last resort, after you've determined the cause is not a Wi-Fi issue, or a wiring issue, or a doorbell transformer issue.

Yes, I did the factory reset.  It never responded as the instructions said it would.   I can short the wires and it rings the bell in the house,  so I know that isn't the issue.

Hi Jschweers,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand that Nest Doorbell wired keeps dropping WiFi connection but now your Nest doorbell wired is not doing the factory reset to be added back, I'm happy to help you!

  • What’s the color of the LED status light?
  • May i know what exactly model of Nest doorbell do you have?
  • Did the doorbell make any sound or change the light when you did the factory reset?
  • How many voltages do you have?

@MplsCustomer thank you for your help!

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Rusell

Hi Rusell,

Thanks for your reply.  It was 1st generation and the LED was green.  I also noticed in history that it would come once or twice a day but only for a few seconds.  Similar to what would happen with a restart.   I decide to replace it with a 2nd generation and everything is working fine now.  I'm guessing the electronics in the old one were going bad
