Nest Doorbell - wireless - cannot complete setup

trying to set up a brand new Nest (wireless) Doorbell.  Trying to do this using the Google Home app.  I have tried on both an Ipad, and Iphone.  I get to the point where it is wanting to complete the setup, and I see a 'Downloading update' screen, and it just stays at '0% downloaded', for 2 or 3 minutes, then it fails with a 'There may be a problem' screen.

I can then go into the Google Home app, and see the doorbell device.  When I select it, it wants me to 'finish setup'.  So, I click that....and it takes me to a blank page, and the Google Home app hangs.

I have done the factory reset about 15 times.  Have restarted router/wifi.  Nothing seems to make a difference.

I'm about to return this thing.

I actually returned the one I was having an issue with, for a new one.  The new one worked.  No idea why the first one didn't work, and the second one did work.

@Brad(with Google Nest Support):

Could someone from Google Nest Support please address this issue (camera or doorbell setup hangs on "downloading update"), since there have been numerous posts about the problem?  Some customers feel that it is a problem with Google Nest's servers, and that the update download will work if you try at a different time, but other customers seem to not be able to finish their install.

I have these same issues using the nest home app!  So frustrating!

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be, and I wanted to make sure that your concern was acknowledged. Do you still need help with this issue? It seems that it has been resolved with a Return, but I just wanted to make sure.

Best Regards,

Brad.

I also cannot set up my new battery doorbell with my iPhone or iPad, despite following all the instructions for troubleshooting. I am about to return it and give up, too. All the posts about this problem seem to have someone come in weeks after the post saying "Is this still a problem?" without offering any troubleshooting advice or actually solving the problem.

YES. IT IS STILL A PROBLEM. How about offering a solution other than "get an Android device"?
