Nest Doorbell

Hi

I purchased the most expensive doorbell of my life. I then learned that it doesn’t chime. I invested in a Nest mini. I then learned that the battery version of Nest Doorbell doesn’t work with the Nest Mini. How much do I have to spend to get a doorbell that chimes? Any help would be much appreciated. If I can’t get it to chime, I will have to return it all.

@Anouk

Are you sure that the Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) does NOT work with the Nest Mini?  That seems rather unbelievable.  We have the older Nest Hello doorbells, so I can't personally verify this, but I ran across this video on setting up the battery doorbell to work with the Nest Mini: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoGK1VYOg2U,  so it seems that it SHOULD work.  Did you enable "Visitor announcements" on your battery doorbell?

Hi.
Yes. Video announcements is on and the rest is greyed out.
“Electronic chimes won't work with your doorbell when it's using battery power” is a message shown

What is the point of a door bell if you can’t hear it? 🤔

Are their any chime solutions for Nest Doorbell Battery?

@Anouk

You have an excellent point.

It seems pretty amazing that if your Nest Mini is in the same "home" or "structure" and "Visitor announcements" is turned on, pressing the doorbell button FAILS to trigger a visitor announcement on your Nest Mini or Nest Hub. If it does not, then I think either your new doorbell is defective or the doorbell is indeed also incapable of "Visitor announcements" when it's using battery power, in which case the "Visitor announcements" option should also be greyed out (and this would be a major design weakness).

I'm just another customer. You could try contacting Google Nest Support and see if they can give you a definitive answer: https://support.google.com/googlenest/?hl=en#topic=7029097
