I've had my Nest Hello Doorbell since 2018, it worked perfectly and without issue until recently. Now everytime someone presses the button, it cuts out mid ring in the device, and loses power. The camera stops working until maybe 30 seconds later. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

It seems to dip below 16v when pressed. I turned off the chime in the settings and it's working fine like that. I use Google home so I don't mind no chime. If that won't work for you then upgrade your transformer to 24v to make sure everything works as it should.
Real answer would be Google fixes what they broke. We all got the same issue at the same time. Something in an update toward the end of October 2021 screwed us all.

Seems like maybe has something to do with the seasonal chime. That is when it started.
01-19-2022 12:53 PM
I didn't even know about a seasonal chime until I read about it on here so I doubt it has anything to do with my issue
01-19-2022 10:27 PM
Yes. In the update that came with the new seasonal chimes just before Halloween did something. It is requiring more power to ring the chime and when the doorbell power supply drops below 16v it shuts the Nest hello off/restarts it.

If it was working fine and then suddenly me and hundreds of others have the same issue around the same time, why would I spend more money on a new transformer?
01-19-2022 03:09 PM
you would do it to get it working again. don't if you don't want to. you realize you are replying to me, just another customer, right? i don't give 2 sh!ts what you do. i am pissed off too after my doorbell quit working. that's why i'm here trying to figure something out to help all of us in the same situation you are.

We are having the same issue. Has anyone figured out a fix? We have even uninstalled the device from the wires and reinstalled and that did not fix the issue
01-19-2022 01:03 PM
If you don't mind not using the chime inside your home you can turn that off in the settings. It won't work for everyone if you don't have anything to notify you besides the chime, but it will at least stay on when the button is pressed.

I am having the same issue. The last time the only thing that fixed this was buying a new nest hello. I don't think it's right to have to buy a new doorbell every other year

I have this same problem. Does Google have a fix for it yet? It’s very frustrating to make big investments in the Nest ecosystem (6 cameras, 5 smoke detectors, security system, doorbell) and it feels like Google is abandoning us.
01-21-2022 02:09 PM
There is no "fix." The internal battery is dying. The fixes are to break into the doorbell device and replace the battery (not approved by NEST), ditch your chime and use NEST / Google speakers for your chime, or get a whole new NEST Hello. But that new one will likely have the same problem in 2-3 years when that internal battery dies.
The obvious solution would be for NEST / Google to manufacture the Hello so that that the internal battery can easily be replaced, not have to be taken apart and broken down.

With Nest Hello doorbells that are 18 months, 14 months, and 1 month old, we are watching how this will be resolved.

Also, they had me trouble shoot and do a reset procedure, which ACTUALLY BROKE THE DEVICE WORSE!! Now the camera doesn't work at all...
After it broke further, they then told me it was not under warrantee, that there was nothing they could do, and sent me on my way.
Yep, not giving them any more money. Nope. YOU SHOULDNT EITHER!

Had the same issue. Resolved it by turning "indoor chime on/off" to off in the nest app. Don't get the hard wire chime anymore but it makes announcements on the hub/mini's

Same solution here. If that works for the long haul I'm not terribly concerned.

Same issue here. This is my second wired doorbell, same issue with prior one about a year ago. Google sent me a new doorbell and now the same thing is happening. Very frustrating!
01-23-2022 01:48 PM
Any update on how to fix the issue?
01-23-2022 01:50 PM
Yeah, but you won’t like it….but another one. It’s lame, I know.
01-23-2022 02:42 PM
The options are to buy a new doorbell or just use google speakers as your chime. I bought an internal battery on eBay and I wasn’t able to replace it.
01-23-2022 02:19 PM
Nothing worked. Voltage was fine. Bought the new doorbell (battery) and installed. Bought a power adapter so I use the old doorbell elsewhere as a camera. - So now I'm out of a bunch of money and time. --- here's the topper, the new doorbell works differently, no continuous recording, has to be through the Home app vs Nest app (where all other cameras are). My whole experience has changed into a split personality problem. If I'm in the Home app, and look at continuous recording for older camera, there's a Nest icon to go to the Nest app. If I'm in the Nest app looking for my doorbell, I have come out and go into the Home app. Rediculous! At this point I don't want to open either app. --- This is getting so much worse considering how Gpay has been confusing.

I bought 4 of the battery cameras, pre ordered and waited a month. Got them, installed them all then the realization that they don't work in the original nest app 😧. I sent them all back.
01-23-2022 03:08 PM
How though?? You need the internal battery to get the camera to restart. I have mine plugged in via USB both in the computer and outlet but can’t get it to boot up.
01-23-2022 04:39 PM
What power adapter did you find? I like the idea of putting the old doorbell as a camera in the back.

Add another Nest Doorbell owner to the list. Purchased in 2018. Issue with losing power when the button is pressed began in December of 2021. Frustrating. Currently looking at moving to a Ubiquiti G4 doorbell. It’s obvious Google doesn’t care about making this right for all of us out here.
01-24-2022 11:00 AM
I disabled electronic chime (which I didn't have) and it seems to have resolved the issue.
02-05-2022 11:21 PM
Mine was never on and I still have the issue (and mine is hardwired).

I did the same remotely from work. Will see if it resolves the issue once I get home. It was initially reassuring to see others are having a similar issue but that quickly changed to frustration after reading all the comments for an hour. A good company would step up to make this right for literally 100’s of customers. And our small group here represents exponentially more customers out there. Crazy.
01-25-2022 06:42 PM
Same happens to me. I regret getting nest instead of ring.
01-26-2022 02:25 PM
Mine is over the 2 year mark as of December and just started rebooting on doorbell press. Very frustrating. If you create a product with poor battery life at least make it east for end users to change it. Very poor design.
01-26-2022 04:41 PM
Anyone know what the warranty date/info is? It looks like I bought mine in April 2020, am I eligible for a refurbished replacement or should I just try replacing the battery?

Same issue here. Has Google provided a response?

Like you all, my doorbell is shutting down when pressed.
So, I turned off the chime to resolve this (so now when someone's at the door, there's no audio indicator), but now that the temperature has dropped even further in the NE, I noticed the camera function keeps cutting in and out - the doorbell itself keeps shutting down randomly. The doorbell just as a security camera won't stay on constantly. When I had someone walk by my house this morning, and I went to watch the video, Nest said "camera offline" for the event. Important events are not even viewable anymore.
So, my Nest Hello is neither a doorbell, nor a security camera - it's effectively a dummy prop to deter intruders.
I chatted with Nest Support earlier this morning, who basically told me to pound sand. The Hello was out of warranty (it's two years old), and there was nothing they could do. So I'm expected to buy a new doorbell every two years? This is from the company that preaches to me about sustainability, its eco-friendliness and how we need to save the planet?
Google consistency chooses not to stand by any of their products.
I'm going to have to switch to Ring or SimpliSafe unless resolved.

I’m having this issue on the older (wired) Nest Hello
01-30-2022 05:44 AM
Join the club!
worst of all Google will not recognize that it is a design flaw. They tell us go buy a new one.
01-30-2022 05:38 AM
I’m having the exact same issue and I bought my camera in 2018.
01-31-2022 01:41 PM
Same issues as everyone else. Was working perfectly fine then in December, the video just started to go up and down over and over again until it just finally cut. I replaced the battery last week and tried putting it right back up. Lasted an hour and it died again. Realized maybe the USB has some charging capabilities that I needed to do with the fresh battery so did that today and going on two hours without cutting out yet. Fingers crossed.

Unfortunately my new battery lasted 4 days after I left it plugged in via USB for 8 or so hours. My wife had gotten sick of not having this work that she had already ordered a brand new "wired" doorbell. I have switched over the new doorbell and it is working perfectly fine. Glad to have to spend 220 dollars every 3 years and replace these. Will be looking at changing my ecosystem around at my two locations I am currently using google products after this disappointment.

Me too. This started in Dec 2021 in below zero Canadian temps. I thought it was a one time issue and now its happens whenever anyones presses the doorbell. My Nest doorbell was installed late 2018
