Nest Hello, (Wired doorbell) boot issue solved?

Stickan

Hi,

I have run into the boot loop issue with my Nest hello. It has been running well for over a year but now it doesn't start up. The blue light blinks twice and then the green light flash and it restarts with the same procedure. I have found several threads describing the same problem but no solution or official way forward with the troubleshooting.  Does anyone have an idea on how to proceed except from buying something else?

I have the same problem with my Nest Hello and also responded on the other related thread(s). I was unable to get a warranty claim so I just turned off the indoor chime. Now the Hello sends notifications to my Google speakers and displays without rebooting itself

Unless your device is within the warranty period there won't be a replacement. I use the workaround with the speakers and some others replaced an internal battery within the device itself.

Wish I had better news.

Tnx, for sharing. I have a open support case with google and hope they will be abele to give me a way forward here. Mine doesn't even boot up so it is more or less bricked as is.

Ugh!

Support would be your best route for resolution. They will likely ask you to remove and reinstall the Hello.

If you want to give a full reset a try here are the instructions: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9252162?hl=en#zippy=%2Cnest-doorbell-wired

Best!

Hi,

Thank you for your engagement. I haven't been able to solve the issue and I strongly believe it is an issue with the hard-coded software, it will not start up in any way, just loop in the boot sequence. I chose Nest/google in the first place for quality reasons but need to reconsider that for future investments. I have 12 devices and this is the first that fails/breaks but it is annoying that it is just some code that doesn't work.

Hi Stickan,

Thanks for trying and I appreciate your efforts. Let's dig deeper into this. Has there been any recent power outage in your area? Where is the device installed? Have you checked if the wires aren't connected securely into the doorbell. Also, has it been exposed to direct sunlight?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

JT

Well, you haven't been added anything of value more than I can't get any help if I don't have a guarantee left.

I give up on this.

Hi Stickan,

Don't give up on us yet. I know how you feel about this and we appreciate your efforts.

Going over the steps here might help:

  • Ensure the wires at the back of your Nest Hello doorbell are securely seated on its screws.
  • Remove your Doorbell camera from the wires, look for a USB cable then connect it into a laptop computer to see if the ring light goes blue pulsing.
  • When you see the light pulses blue and the live video becomes available put it back to the wall mount.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

JT
