Had a Nest doorbell set up for a while. I then upgraded my router to a Google Mesh set up with 1 point. I just replaced my doorbell (due to peeling issues) and it will not connect to another Nest device in my account for set up (4 thermostats and a protect). I keep getting an error NC014 or NC016. I've moved it closer inside the house using the usb port for power with no luck. I can't figure out what to do even after going through the trouble shooting guides and youtube videos. Any assistance would be much appreciated. It's really aggravating! Why does it NEEdD to connect to another Nest device?!?!?!

A few customers posting in this forum about their internal chime not working with their Nest Hello Doorbell have reported that if they turn on "Electronic chime" under "Chime duration" and then turn it back off again, that their mechanical chime mysteriously starts working. This worked for us (at least until the internal battery in our Nest Hellos started failing at 21 months of age, causing the doorbell's camera to go offline whenever the doorbell was pressed, so we've turned off "Internal chime" and rely on "Visitor announcements" on our Nest Hubs).

Update:
1) I was able to connect the doorbell to a "test" home I set up, which rules out WiFi/ internet connectivity issues.
2) Based on other feeds, it sounds like disconnecting the other nest devices in the house and then re-adding them all, starting with the doorbell might work. I disconnected 1 thermostat from my account and then tried to re-added it just test it. Guess what! Now my thermostat won't reconnect to my account as it cannot connect to one of the other next devices on my account. WTF?!?! I'm open to suggestions.

Hey Nickfpharmd,
Sorry for the overdue response but thanks for reaching out.
Are you getting a specific code when attempting to reconnect your thermostat? If yes, what is it? Also have you tried the troubleshooting guide here: https://goo.gle/3dxfrun

Yes, I have reviewed the troubleshooting guide in detail. The error codes were NC016 and sometimes NC014.
I wound up resetting up all the thermostats, protect, routers, and points to the "test" home and made that my new primary home. Everything is connected now, but what a process!! I'm extremely surprised the the doorbell requires connection to another google device for setup if one exists. This is silliness.
In short, it's all connected now after much frustration. The really frustrating thing is that the only reason I uninstalled (and eventually reinstalled) my doorbell was to fix the issue I was having where the indoor chime wasn't ringing. The original problem persists. I'm back to square 1!

Thanks for this. I did see those posts and have tried it. It's weird. The indoor chime works intermittently. I am also trying to get the indoor announcements to work on my echo show 5 to no avail.
I consider myself fairly handy with tech (have built computers and done some networking configurations over the years), but after all of this I'm not so sure anymore.
