Hello,
Nest Hello doorbell that is peeling.
I found lots of people complaining about the same problem in 2020, 2021. We bought our doorbell in 2021 and it started to show the same problem . Does this mean Google did know the problem but didn't do anything? Are they just saying we just need to chuck it and buy a new one after warranty?

Google typically doesn't offer a replacement if it's no longer under warranty, unfortunately. That said, you're welcome to contact the Google Nest support team who can check your warranty status and confirm.
