Nest Hello film is peeling

Beartato327

Hello,

This is the second time my nest hello doorbell has peeled. The current one was a replacement sent from the previous time this issue occurred. Can someone from the community please assist in replacing this device again. I am unable to access the previous forum post I created last time for some reason but it occurred July 11th of 2021.

Thank you

@Beartato327

Google Nest says they "cannot" replace peeling doorbells that are past the 1-year warranty. We bought silicone "skins" on Amazon for two of our Nest Hello Doorbells to cover the peeling shards because they are past the 1-year warranty.

@MplsCustomer the previous nest hello that the community support replaced was 2 and 1/2 years old. They will replace it if you escalate enough. This is a known defect and must be corrected because they are selling defective items.

@Beartato327

I wish you luck.  We got a defective Nest Hello replaced 3 years ago when it simply quit working when it was 15 months old.  But things have changed since then.

There are over 400 threads in this forum from unhappy customers about peeling doorbells. Judging from the posts, my guess is that the vast majority did not get replacements.

We tried escalating getting our Nest Hellos replaced for their failing internal batteries and even contacted our state's Attorney General's office. Google Nest flat-out refused--in writing to the Attorney General's office--saying they "cannot" replace doorbells past their 1-year warranty.  They even took the trouble to look up the purchase dates so they could tell the AG's office the doorbells were more than a year old. This is in spite of the fact that this is an even more widely-known defect. The main--now locked--thread on this defect has over 1,000 replies (https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Nest-Hello-Doorbell-cuts-out-when-butto...).

So, two of our Google Nest Hello Doorbells have silicone "skins", and the "Indoor chime" option is turned off on all three so they won't go offline when the doorbell is pressed, and we rely instead on "Visitor announcements" to our Nest Hubs.
