Nest Hello wired doorbell not connecting to wifi and also cracking/peeling

I'm having two issues with my Nest Hello Wired Doorbell.

First, it has stopped working. I've had it for just over a year and it had worked fine, notifying me and showing video in the app when someone came to the door. 2 weeks ago it just stopped working and says it's offline. I've changed nothing about my wifi (using google wifi and mesh network), have not added any extenders, added no additional devices on my network and haven't moved the locations of any routers.

I've gone through all the troubleshooting steps including rebooting modem/router, disconnecting devices and even resetting the doorbell but it still says it's offline and unable to connect to the wifi. This is extremely disappointing as I have a whole google ecosystem in my house, with several assistants, hubs, door locks and thermostats in use. I've been a dedicated Android user for many years.

In addition, I noticed the plastic on the doorbell has started to crack and flake and looks very unappealing. I'm less concerned about that than I am about it not streaming video, but it's still an annoyance.

I'd like to know how I can fix this as I'd like to stay with Google, but I'm not going to by another doorbell after only a year. I would rather cancel my Nest Aware subscription and switch the door to arlo or another similar product.

Any guidance would be appreciated.
