Nest Hello wired gen 1 battery fail

Ive started having camera issues like many others on the internet with my internal battery seeming to fail. Of course calling nest support has been NO HELP whatsoever. No amount of troubleshooting can fix this issue. I dont have a nest home hub so the solution that others have had about turning on “visitor announcements” doesnt seem like it will work for me. I refuse to buy another gen 1 just for the same issue to occur in two years.

My question is, has this same issue been reported in the gen 2 doorbell? It seems as though purchasing the upgraded model is my only solution.

not interested in replacing the battery or tampering with my home transformer etc.

The internal battery has now failed on all 3 of our Nest Hello Doorbells, so we rely on "Visitor announcements" on our Nest Hubs and Nest Mini. I've also wondered whether the 2nd gen doorbell also has an internal battery, and the question has been asked in this forum but has not been answered.

The 2nd gen doorbells (and cameras) lack numerous Nest app features (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/13038234#zippy=%2Cnest-app-only-features), including the "zoom and enhance" feature, which is essential for us since 2 of our doorways are recessed.

I think Nest is horribly irresponsible for not rectifying this for their customers. The literal only response was “you will have to purchase another product.” Which we all know will fail again in the next two years lol
